Over the next few weeks, I will post several k-cup reviews, hoping it will help you find the perfect blend to brew on your Keurig. Today I’m doing a review of Tully’s Italian Roast K-cup.
According to the producer, Italian Roast is a full-bodied and intense coffee.
Not very dark and a little bit watery, this coffee doesn’t really look like a full-bodied blend. So, there is a chance that you will be disappointed at first.
Still, the flavor is nice and complex. Dusty, woody and spicy at the same time. Bitter with no acidity.
If you like coffees with a long aftertaste, Italian Roast is made for you. Its strong, dry and a very long aftertaste is really something. In fact, it does remind me a little bit of espresso.
What I didn’t like is empty and boring mouthfeel. The result: weak coffee taste. Not something you would normally expect from a dark roasted blend. Of course, this doesn’t necessarily have to be a bad thing (especially if you are a fan of light to medium roasted coffees).
Do you usually drink a big cup in the morning and smaller one in the afternoon (or the other way)? Then you may want to try out this K cup. Italian Roast does have almost the same flavor, no matter if you brew 6 or 10 oz.
But, what I really like about this coffee is the fact that it gets even better when you add milk and sugar. If this is your way of drinking coffee, I have coffee for you: Tully’s Italian Roast!
