Take a freshly brewed cup of coffee and a nice splash of hazelnut creamer, and you have a perfect afternoon treat!
One of the best ways to make good hazelnut coffee at home is to keep things simple. Adding too many ingredients like hazelnut, chocolate, vanilla, sweetened condensed milk…usually results in pretty confusing taste.
I always feel that good hazelnut coffee needs nothing more than a nice splash of good hazelnut creamer or syrup. You can find them in bottles, creamer singles, and there’s of course, sugar-free hazelnut creamer. If you love making things from scratch you can also make your own coffee creamer.
How to use hazelnut coffee creamer?! The serving size is 1 tablespoon or 1 creamer single per cup. But most people just add a big splash, about 1 ounce for standard cup and maybe 2 ounces for bigger cups (10 or 12 ounces).
If you drink your coffee black or you need a dairy-free option, use hazelnut syrup. Place 2 tbsp hazelnut syrup into the cup, add coffee and stir.
The third option is (pre)flavored coffee. A great thing about these coffees is that they usually have fewer calories, and they can give very nice & complex flavor. However, most flavored coffees are light to medium roasts, so they can feel light and weak, to those who like their coffee strong.
Most grocery stores carry flavored coffees and most brands make them – Folgers, Millstone, Green Mountain Coffee, Dunkin’ Donuts… You can also find them in form of k-cups, or decaf.
