make your own coffee creamer

This homemade coffee creamer comes together quickly and it’s made with only a few simple ingredients.

homemade coffee creamer

I like to make my own coffee creamers at home whenever I can. This homemade coffee creamer comes together quickly, it’s made with only a few ingredients and it’s so much healthier than the store-bought creamer.

It’s really easy to do, too.

First, we’re going to make a plain coffee creamer – the creamer base. After that, just use different spices and extracts to make different flavors. In only 5 minutes you’ll have the perfect homemade creamer for your morning cup of joe!

HOMEMADE COFFEE CREAMER

Make creamer base: Combine 1 3/4 milk + 1 can sweetened condensed milk in a large bowl and whisk until well combined. That’s our basic creamer. If you like a classic coffee creamer with no extra flavors, you can use it as is. Or, move to the next step. Here are some ideas:

Almond Joy creamer: creamer base + 1 tsp almond extract + 1 1/2 tsp coconut extract + 1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
Vanilla: creamer base + 2 tsp vanilla extract
Peppermint Mocha: creamer base + 1 tsp peppermint extract + 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
Salted Caramel: creamer base + 3 tbsp caramel sauce + 2 pinch salt
Pumpkin Spice: base + 2 tbsp pumpkin puree + 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice
Hazelnut: creamer base + 2 tsp hazelnut extract
Nutella: creamer base + 4 tbsp Nutella

You can also use a large mason jar for this recipe. Pour all ingredients into a jar, close well and shake like crazy. When using dry cocoa powder, you might want to heat a small amount of milk and mix first, to make sure it’s completely dissolved. Or you can mix everything in a food processor.

If you prefer something less sweet, you could make this coffee creamer with 2 cups milk and 1/2 can of sweetened condensed milk. It will still be creamy but will have less sugar. You can also substitute sweetened condensed milk for heavy cream or half and half.

Store your homemade coffee creamer in the fridge, in a well-closed mason jar or glass bottle. Good for 7 days, or by the date on your milk carton (as long as the milk is fresh, the creamer will be too). Shake before each use.

Enjoy!

I would freeze my creamer when I bought a lot of bottles at one time whenever it went on sale, could I do the same for these creamers? I know you can freeze milk.

You probably could, but I think they taste better when you make them fresh and keep in the fridge for maybe a week.

Just curious, with the creamer having milk in it, is the creamer only good until the expiration date? Thanks for your help!

Hi Becky, yes, I think it’s best to use it by the expiration date on your milk carton. Normally, I keep it in the fridge in mason jars for up to a week, but as long as the milk is fresh, the creamer will be too.
