Can you put milk in Keurig

Can you put milk directly into the Keurig water tank for hot chocolate and lattes?

can you put milk in keurig

I know that adding milk in Keurig for hot chocolate seems like a good idea, but you should never put milk in a Keurig, or any other coffee maker. The reason is simple: this can easily damage your coffee maker and it’s impossible to clean.

The milk will just smell burnt, and it can stick to the inner water tank and clog the water hose.

To make a latte or hot chocolate, you need to brew a k-cup as usual, using water, and then add milk directly to the cup.

Of course, this doesn’t mean that you can’t make the best tasting hot chocolate with your Keurig. For best results, brew one hot chocolate k-cup at the smallest cup setting, and then fill the rest of the mug with hot milk. Use whole milk or 2% milk for really good, creamy hot chocolate.

It’s the same with lattes. Brew dark roast or espresso roast k-cup at the smallest cup setting, and add hot or frothed milk. Here’s a list of the best k-cups if you need some ideas on which k-cups to choose.

Keurig pods with milk
Some hot chocolate k-cups like Amazon brand hot cocoa pods contain dry milk to improve the taste. Even if you’re using these pods, brew them at the smallest cup setting and add whole milk to the cup. This will add creaminess and it will taste so good.

Also, make sure to run one brew cycle without inserting the pod after hot chocolate pods to rinse any milk residue.
