These Black Friday shopping tips below will help you get the best deal on the coffee maker you want and help keep frustration and overspending to a minimum. I’m also finding all the best Black Friday Deals for you each year.
UPDATE: While most of the Black Friday deals have expired, you can still score some nice deals on Amazon. I will post all the best deals below.
black friday shopping tips
1. Find your ideal machine before you go to the store
Small kitchen appliances are among some of the most common impulse purchases, especially around the holidays. To make sure you’re happy with your machine, make sure the model has all the features you need. Maybe you’ll want a programmable machine that you can set the night before. The auto off can also be useful for busy mornings. Maybe you want a machine that makes a really awesome coffee at just the right temperature and timing. How easy it is to use and clean it’s also important. Make a list of 2 or 3 most important features your new coffee maker must have.
Not sure where to start? Here are some of my favorite drip coffee makers.
2. Make sure the model has not been discontinued and you can easily find the pods/ filters/ parts
Check the official website to see if the model is still available for purchase. Take a look at current pod varieties and prices (if it’s a single serve machine). If you know which model you want, quickly google it, check their official website and maybe Amazon for reviews. I know it sounds boring but you don’t want to get a new machine and find out that you can’t get the pods for your model. It will take less than 5 minutes.
I don’t recommend buying Starbucks Verismo, Keurig Rivo System, Keurig Vue or any of the Keurig 2.0 series brewer, even if you find them on sale.
3. Set a budget
Is it $100, $200 or $500 coffee maker?! Set a range within your budget that will keep you from overspending. You don’t want your finances to go in the red in November and December.
4. Research deals and check prices online
Before you rush off to the stores on Black Friday, look into deals ahead of time so you can make a game plan. Check Black Friday ads online, Amazon deals and don’t forget to check regular retail prices online. This way you’ll know what’s a good deal when you see one.
5. Shop deals online
According to Forbes, last year about 70% of Black Friday doorbusters were also available at the store’s website, so you might as well stay at home and shop in your pajamas. You will score the same deals.
6. Choose a classic Keurig
Keurig k cup coffee maker is one of the most purchased items around holidays. But, since their offer changes pretty often, you want to make sure that you’re getting a newer model or at least the one that wasn’t discontinued. With that said, I recommend not to buy any of the Keurig 2.0 models even if you find them on sale since they were discontinued in 2018. If you need a Keurig with a carafe option, there’s new Keurig K Duo Plus. If you want a less expensive model, Keurig Classic K55 is probably one of the best choices. This post may help you narrow down your choices.
7. The best classic drip coffee makers
Besides Keurig, Ninja coffee bar is one of the most popular brewers right now. It’s a great choice if you want versatility because it has a ton of different settings. If you want to invest in a really good machine that makes truly amazing coffee at home (right temperature, water flow and time) and you also want a machine that will last, I recommend Techivorm Moccamaster. These are my favorite drip coffee makers.
8. Best espresso machine for home
In the pod espresso machine category, I recommend Nespresso VertuoLine system. You will need to order pods online but except that, this machine is amazing: it makes both, brewed coffee and espresso, and it’s super easy to use! You just insert the capsule and the machine adjusts the brewing process. The machine and frother bundle normally costs $249, but you can probably get it for less than $150 on Black Friday/ Cyber Monday (see deals below). You can read my Nespresso Vertuoline review here.
If you want to upgrade and get a serious espresso machine, the $699 Breville Barista Express is the best one you can get. It has a built-in grinder and makes great espresso in just a few steps. This machine has a significant number of features: stainless steel boiler, 15 bar pump pressure, built-in burr grinder, 67-ounce water tank, built-in PID, single and double shots and programmable shot volumes. It has a water temperature control (4 degrees up or down from the factory settings) and auto-purge function which returns the machine to an optimal temperature after steam. It’s beautifully built, and the price point at which these features are offered is really good.
Breville Barista Express Black Friday Deal: Head over to Amazon and score this machine for only $488.99 shipped! That’s $210 off!
best black friday deals 2019 (Expired)
These are my picks for the best deals from Black Friday ads. I’ve listed all the best deals I’ve spotted in ads from all major retailers. So, no matter at which stores you plan to do your holiday shopping, you know which items will be on sale and where.
Please be sure to check the ad yourself to determine exactly which days these items will be available, and whether they’ll be available online or just in-store. For example, Walmart’s Black Friday sale begins online at 10 p.m. ET on Wednesday Nov. 27, while Best Buy’s sale starts at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 28.
