Last Friday, you could read my Tully’s Italian Roast K cup review. And today, I am going to tell you more about Tully’s House Blend K cup.
The one thing I really hate about K cups is that there is a chance for us to end up with watery cup of coffee. Luckily, I was not unpleasantly surprised this time. After my brewer filled the cup the first thing I could notice was nice medium brown color and proper texture of this coffee.
And it smells great too! If you like that nice, clean smell of fresh morning coffee, you will like Tully’s House Blend.
What some of you may not like is the fact that this coffee is extra smoky. In fact this smokiness dominated my taste buds all the way.
The taste does remind a lot of strong cocoa taste. Of course, you can always add little milk and sugar to cover its bitterness. ;) Little bit of natural sweetness and very soft acidity resulted in coffee good enough to drink without sugar or milk.
Different from Tully’s Italian Roast K cup, House Blend will provide bold, buttery smooth mouthfeel. Although the aftertaste keeps smoky cocoa aroma, the finish is clean and not too long. Very well balanced.
The smokiness of this coffee will surely wake you up in a moment. This rich but balanced taste is what we all need in the morning. On the other hand, you may not want to drink this bold coffee in the evening (not very good for our stomachs).
If you drink black coffee (no milk, no sugar), like I do, this coffee is a good choice only for those who like rich, strong coffees. Light roasted coffee fans, this one is not for you!
I assume that making cold coffee drinks with this one wouldn’t be the best possible choice. Even though it is strong enough, these cocoa notes can result in bitter cup of iced coffee. But, I did try to make mocha coffee with House Blend. I can tell you, that was a very good cup of black chocolate mocha! Just delicious. Milk, sugar, chocolate syrup, everything goes perfectly with Tully’s House Blend. As long as it is hot! ;)
