Over the next few weeks, I will post several k-cup reviews, hoping it will help you find the perfect blend to brew on your Keurig. Today I’m doing a review of Newman’s Own Extra Bold Organic K-cup.
When you brew the coffee it seems slightly more watery than some other extra bold coffees. At least those that I usually drink. Still, the color is really nice.
If you like your coffee to have that beautiful pure smell of freshly roasted coffee you will surely like this one. This coffee smells so good. Its smokey, cedar-toned aroma is really exceptional.
Although it has a classic bitterness of medium to dark roasted coffees, it is soft and refined. Ashy, woody, it tastes almost perfectly. In fact, I would say that this is one of the most drinkable extra bold coffees on the market. This is probably because it is made from both, medium and dark roasted coffee beans. So, there is a big chance that you will enjoy it, even if you don’t prefer too strong coffee tastes.
What surprised me is its short aftertaste. But, since it was as good as the basic taste I would not take this as a flaw. After all, many coffee consumers do love coffees with little or no aftertaste.
Like Green Mountain’s Dark Magic, this coffee keeps its flavor and strength in all possible combinations. As you know, some coffees lose their taste when you add sugar or milk. But, not this one! I added milk, sugar and whipped cream, and I could still feel the coffee perfectly. I just love this! For this reason, this k-cup is just perfect for making all types of coffee drinks. Especially summer favorite – iced coffee.
Organic and Fair Trade Certified Kcup
Besides the fact that this can be a good cup of coffee anytime, this coffee comes with a bonus. It’s organic and fair trade certified. So, if you are health or environmentally conscious, this one is perfect.
One thing is sure: Newman’s Own Organics fulfilled all the expectations with this one. This is one good cup of coffee!
