How to make your own coffee pods ( tutorial )

Today I want to show you how you can make your own coffee pods for your Senseo, Hamilton Beach or any type of machine that uses 7 gram soft coffee pods like Senseo or Melitta.

These pods are really hard to find & they are not very cheap. Luckily, this solution is.

Here’s what you need:
– fresh ground coffee
– basket coffee filters

Start by grabbing any coffee you want (ah, the possibilities) and a pack of coffee filters, available at your local grocery store. I always have cone filters in my kitchen, but I would definitely recommend basket filters for this purpose. They are much softer, and really easy to fold & to form the pod.

make your own coffee podsPlease, use basket filters.

Put 1 coffee scoop – that’s 2 tablespoons of coffee into a filter.

Next, grab the corners, fold, twist and form the pod.

Like this.
This is going to be a super easy job with basket filters, because they are really soft & thin.

Cut the top.

They seriously take 30 seconds to make.

Maybe a minute.

Feel free to experiment with any blends you have on hand – light roast, medium roast, flavored coffees or espresso blends, would all be suitable.

Have a great weekend!

Thank you so much for the tutorial on do-it-yourself coffee pods! I like my little countertop space-saving Senseo, but have been very frustrated at the lack of availability (and sad about the prices) of soft coffee pods in bricks-and-mortar stores.
