When you’re sleepy and under-caffeinated, the last thing you want is a Keurig that it’s not working. It can happen though. Machines get a lot of daily use so they can develop clogs, leaks and that can cause the system to quit completely.
But, don’t worry! The 85% of Keurig problems can easily be solved. To help with that, I’ve compiled a list of Keurig problems we see most often, along with some effective solutions.

KEURIG TROUBLESHOOTING, CLASSIC SERIES MODELS
No matter if you have a classic series Keurig or Keurig 2.0, the potential issues are usually the same: Keurig won’t turn on, won’t brew, it’s not brewing a full cup, not dispensing water, it won’t heat, the machine shuts off for no reason or you’re getting grounds in your cup. How to fix a Keurig? Let’s start with classic series models:
1. Brewing a partial cup, not dispensing water, grounds in the cup
If your Keurig is brewing a partial cup, you’re getting grounds in your cup or your Keurig is not brewing at all, cleaning and descaling can help bring your machine back to life. This includes cleaning/ descaling the unit and cleaning both exit needles.
Here’s a detailed guide on how to clean a Keurig. If you have 2.0 model, here’s how to clean Keurig 2.0.
2. Keurig won’t brew
If your Keurig says descale but won’t brew, you must descale your machine.
If you’re not getting the descale message but your Keurig still won’t brew and it’s not pumping water try these fixes:
1. Unplug the brewer and plug it back in.
2. Lift and put back the water tank to make sure it’s placed properly.
3. If it still won’t work, the tank is placed properly and there’s enough water in the reservoir, try cleaning the reservoir. Hand wash with mild soap and non-abrasive cloth and rinse thoroughly. Check and clean the hose/ valve at the bottom of the tank and on the machine where the tank goes. This valve can sometimes get clogged and cause problems.
3. Clean top and bottom exit needle using a paper clip to make sure they are not clogged with grounds.
4. Try the tap method: remove the tank, turn your machine upside down and top the bottom a few times.
If nothing helps, it’s time to call Keurig Customer Service.
3. Keurig shuts off or turns on for no reason
Check the Auto ON/OFF option and make sure that the timer has not been set. Keurig Mini will normally shut off when not working for longer than 90 seconds. To restart press Power button.
For Keurig Elite: If the green Auto off light is illuminated, the brewer will turn off two hours after your last brew. To disable, press the black Auto off button (the green light will turn off).
Special Edition and Platinum: To turn off the auto-off feature, press menu twice to enter auto off programming mode. Press small cup button (left button) several times until it says “off”.
If the brewer shuts off in the middle of a brew, please contact Keurig Customer Service.
4. Add water Keurig issue
If there’s enough water in the water reservoir, the reservoir is placed properly, but you’re still having “add water” issues, try cleaning the reservoir.
Remove the water reservoir and discard the water. Hand wash it with mild soap and non-abrasive cloth and rinse. Check and clean the valve at the bottom of the tank and on the machine where the tank goes. The valve can sometimes get clogged and this can cause problems. Fill the tank again to the MAX fill line (you can use tap, bottled or filtered water, do not use softened water) and return to the unit.
Make sure to clean both exit needles as well.
5. Keurig won’t stop pumping the water
If you’re Keurig won’t stop pumping the water from the moment you turn it on until you turn it off, try this fix: unplug the machine, remove the reservoir, turn it upside down, shake slightly and tap the bottom a few times. I know it sounds silly but it often helps. Descaling your machine can help too.
6. keurig descale light
If the red descale light on your K50 turns on, you must descale your Keurig.
7. Keurig won’t turn on
If your Keurig won’t power on, here’s what you need to test: make sure that the brewer is plugged in correctly. Plug in a different appliance to make sure it works in the same outlet. If it doesn’t work, it could be an issue with the outlet. Plug in your Keurig into a different kitchen outlet to see if it will work. Ensure that the power button is pushed to turn on the brewer. On Keurig 2.0, tap the power icon on the lower right of the screen once.
If your brewer still won’t power on, you need to call Customer service to help you troubleshoot your machine.
8. Keurig leaking while heating
If your Keurig leaks while preheating, the machine might be clogged. Try cleaning both exit needles and the k-cup holder. Also, check the valve at the bottom of the water tank to make sure it’s clean and looks fine. You can also try the tap method: turn off it off, remove the water tank, turn the machine upside down shake it a bit and tap the bottom a few times. Put everything back. If nothing is clogged but the machine still leaks, it’s probably the hose or valve inside the machine and you will need to call Keurig customer service.
9. keurig leaking from the bottom
If there’s water leaking from the bottom, the problem is usually either the rubber band at the bottom of the water reservoir (just under the water filter) or the tear on the hose or seal inside the machine. If it’s an o-ring, you can easily replace it with a new one (here’s a tutorial on how to replace o-ring on Keurig machine). If it’s the hose or the seal inside the machine, you must disassemble the machine which I don’t recommend. In that case, please call Keurig customer service for further assistance.
KEURIG 2.0 TROUBLESHOOTING
1. How to set up Keurig 2.0 brewer
You will find a step-by-step guide in your manual and it’s important to follow all the steps correctly.
1. plug in the brewer
2. lift the handle and remove the shipping disk
3. rinse the water reservoir, fill with water and return to the unit
4. press the Power button and wait to preheat (needs approximately 3 minutes)
5. now, you need to run a cleansing brew. place a mug on the drip tray, open and close the handle without inserting the k-cup, select 6-ounce setting and press brew. when finished, get a clean cup and use your brewer to make coffee.
2. Keurig 2.0 won’t brew / Keurig 2.0 not dispensing water
First, make sure to wait long enough. The heating process may last about 3 minutes, so be patient. If nothing happens after this time, then make sure that:
1. The water reservoir is placed properly and there is enough water in the reservoir;
2. The handle is lowered completely and you have the brew setting screen.
If everything seems fine, the water reservoir is in place, brew button has been pressed and nothing happens for more than 5 minutes, call customer service to help you troubleshoot your brewer.
3. Keurig 2.0 won’t turn on
To turn on your Keurig 2.0 plug in the brewer, then press and hold the power button (the power icon will appear in the bottom right corner of the touchscreen). You should see a welcome! note. If it doesn’t turn on you can do few things: Check to make sure that the brewer is plugged securely, unplug and plug in the brewer, plug the brewer into a different outlet. As the last step, Keurig even recommends resetting your home’s circuit breaker just in case. If nothing works, then you should definitely call Keurig customer service.
4. Keurig 2.0 add water /more water please error
Refill the water reservoir to the max fill. You can also remove and place the reservoir back to the unit to make sure it’s placed properly. Press continue.
If there’s enough water in the water reservoir, the reservoir is placed properly, but you’re still getting this error here’s what you can do. Remove the water reservoir and empty the water. Clean the reservoir by hand using soap and non-abrasive cloth and rinse thoroughly (not dishwasher safe). Check the valve at the bottom of the tank and on the machine where the tank goes. The valve can sometimes get clogged and this can cause problems.
When done, fill the reservoir to the max fill and return to the unit, and make sure it’s seated properly. If it doesn’t work, it’s time for customer service.
5. Keurig 2.0 trickle while brewing
It has to do something with its new brewing technology, but it’s absolutely normal for your new Keurig 2.0 not to dispense water in a stream but to trickle coffee. As long as you get a selected beverage size at the end, it’s fine. If you’re getting only partial cups try cleaning exit needles and descaling your machine.
6. Keurig 2.0 shuts off for no reason
Make sure that there is enough water in the reservoir and refill if needed. If that seems fine, check the energy saver option for K350 or auto on/off option for K450 and K550.
For K350 go to settings, energy saver and turn off this option. Press save to confirm and then use back to return to the settings menu.
For K450 and K550 go to settings menu, then auto off or energy saving option, just uncheck the little box next to enable option. Don’t forget to press save to confirm.
If auto off/energy saving mode is disabled but your brewer still turns off on its own, please contact Customer Service.
7. Water under pressure
The “water under pressure” issue usually indicates the problem with the exit needle. Carefully open the handle, take out the pod and clean the exit needle. You can either use a paper clip or the maintenance accessory (the little orange tool) that came with your brewer. Here’s how to clean exit needle on Keurig 2.0. If this happens more than once or twice in a row, or cleaning isn’t helping anymore (that’s possible too) please do not disassemble the unit and try fixing it on your own, but call customer service for assistance instead.
8. How to use non-branded k-cups in Keurig 2.0
Keurig 2.0 brewers only work with Keurig branded k-cups or more precisely – the one with updated labels. Keurig 2.0 scanner won’t brew old Keurig branded k-cups (the one without an outer ring and Keurig brewed seal), non-Keurig brand packs or old type of reusable k-cups. However, there are few things that you can do to brew any k-cup brand in Keurig 2.0:
1. You can cut the top of updated Keurig branded k-cup or k-carafe and attach it on top of your non-branded k-cup.
2. Cut the left side of the updated label and attach it to the left side of any k-cup you want to brew
3. You can even buy special stickers ($5.00) for this purpose
4. You can attach a part of the label over the scanner itself.
If you want to use your own coffee in Keurig 2.0 or you simply prefer eco-friendly options, you can purchase Keurig 2.0 reusable filter for $8.00. This filter works with all 2.0 series brewers and it’s optimized for brewing a k-cup size (4 – 12 ounce). If you want to brew your own coffee as a carafe, you can get a reusable carafe filter.
9. Keurig 2.0 stuck on preheating
The machine needs about 3 minutes to do an initial preheating. If the process takes longer, then it’s possible that something is wrong with the machine. Unplug and plug in the brewer again to repeat the process, just in case. Make sure that the water reservoir is in place and there is enough water in the tank. If everything seems fine but still nothing happens, it’s recommended to call Keurig customer service.
There is a fix that worked for some of my readers. You unplug the machine, fill the tank with hot water and turn the machine back on. The machine should recognize hot water and start working again. Please note, Keurig only recommends adding cold water in the tank, so while the fix usually helps please use it at your own risk.
10. Keurig 2.0 auto on won’t work
The brewer will not sometimes brew if there’s not enough water in the reservoir. Also, if you lift the handle or move a carafe after you turn on the auto ON, the auto brew will cancel. If you’ve done everything right, there was enough water in the reservoir, you didn’t move a carafe or lift a handle after you’ve set the auto on, the enable box was checked and you didn’t forget to press SAVE, but it still doesn’t work then it’s because of the machine and you can call Customer service
11. Keurig 2.0 screen problems
Unfortunately, screen issues are very common with new Keurig 2.0 brewers, and in most cases, the touch screen isn’t working or there’s a blank screen. The only thing that you can do is to unplug and plug in the brewer. This will most probably solve the problem, at the moment. But, please pay attention to how often this happens. If it’s just once or twice it’s not a big deal, but if you think it’s happening too often, call Customer service. It’s not something that will solve on its own and I don’t like the idea of turning the machine on and off all the time because the screen goes crazy.
If you’re on the market for a new coffee maker, classic series model like K55 is a better choice because it doesn’t have such a sensitive touchscreen.

1. Keurig trips circuit breaker
If you live in a newly constructed home with AFCI/GFCI breakers, and you just got the latest Keurig model, there is a big chance that your new coffee machine will cause problems. For some reason, Keurig K-Cafe and K-Elite (latest Keurig models) can cause problems in new homes. There’s no fix for this, most people just return the unit.
2. Grounds in the cup
Do not use softened water in your Keurig machine. If you always get a messy result and coffee grounds in your cup, try switching to bottled or tap water. Keurig doesn’t recommend using softened water in their machines. Fill the reservoir with bottled/ tap water, run a few brew cycles without inserting the k-cup to rinse your machine and then make your coffee. This should solve the problem. Regular cleaning is also important. Make sure to clean the brew head from time to time and keep your machine nice and clean.
3. coffee tastes bitter or burnt
When Keurig coffee doesn’t taste good anymore, thoroughly clean the k-cup holder, exit needles and the area around the holder. If your Keurig coffee tastes bitter or burnt or has an unpleasant aftertaste, oil buildups might be the reason. It’s really important to clean coffee grounds and dirt from all parts that come in contact with coffee on a regular basis. Here are a few tips on how to make Keurig coffee taste better.

Just as an FYI (oh, and thanks for the great article!) I couldn’t find this answer anywhere on the web, so I resorted to the user’s manual (*gasp*, yes, I know). On a K-Compact, if the lights are all on at the same time, lift and close the handle, place a cup on the tray, and press the power button once. A little bit of water might come out, and then it will brew again. Thanks again :)
Navil
Calling your customer service is the most inconvenient thing to do. They are completely unhelpful. Makes my purchasing your product a complete waste of money.
Danijela
Hi Navil, I’m sorry that you’re having issues with your machine and thank you for stopping by. Please note, coffeestylish.com is a personal blog, and it’s not sponsored or administered by Keurig.
If you are unable to get Keurig Customer Service help via phone, you can email them or even better, send them DM via Facebook. They usually respond very quickly on Facebook. Here’s a link to Keurig Facebook page. I hope this helps!

Hi, Do you have a service center of keurig coffee maker in singapore? My coffee maker won’t turn on despite of trying all the remedies. hope you can help me. I bought this unit in USA and brought it back to singapore. I had used it a few times already but suddenly it won’t turn on. Please i need your help.
Danijela
Hi, I don’t think they have service in Singapore, but I would check with their customer service just in case. Keurig customer service is available at 1-866-901-2739. If you are unable to give them a call, you can email them or even better, send them DM via Facebook. They usually respond very quickly on Facebook. Here’s a link to Keurig Facebook page. I hope this helps.
Jo
Hi Danijela, my kuerig is dribbling when it is preheating. I haven’t seen it dribble any other time. It dribbles so much water that it fills the tray and I wake up to a soaked mat. Doesn’t matter if kuerig is open or closed. How do I get it to stop.
Danijela
Hi Jo, I’m sorry that you’re having issues with your coffee maker. You can try cleaning both exit needles and the k-cup holder to make sure nothing is clogged. Here’s how to clean them. You can also try the tap method: remove the water tank, turn the machine upside down shake it a bit and tap the bottom a few times. Clean the water tank and put everything back. Please also check the valve at the bottom of the water tank to make sure it’s clean.
If everything looks fine and everything is clean, and the tap method doesn’t work, I recommend calling Keurig customer service to help you troubleshoot your machine. Maybe one of the hoses or valves inside the machine is damaged and that’s why it leaks.
Chris R
I don’t know why but your solution to problem 5 worked perfectly today. Panic has been averted and coffee is now made. Thank you for the troubleshooting information.
Danijela
You’re very welcome, I’m glad that worked for you too! Enjoy your coffee!
Bill Beckert
My Keurig 2.0 was left in camper last winter and I did not empty the internal reservoir. Now leaks while heating.
Danijela
Hi Bill, there is a chance that the water in the machine was frozen and that can sometimes damage the hoses. But, maybe it’s just clogged. Please try cleaning both exit needles and the k-cup holder. Also, check the valve at the bottom of the water tank to make sure it’s clean and looks fine. You can also try the tap method: remove the water tank, turn the machine upside down shake it a bit and tap the bottom a few times. If everything is clean, the valve on the tank looks fine and it still leaks, I recommend calling Keurig customer service.
Luis
Just got a Keurig K Elite and it keeps tripping my home breaker. It’s a new house, less than a year old. Is anyone else having this issue? I had a Ninja coffee machine and it never tripped a breaker.
Danijela
Hi Luis, which model did you get? The K-Cafe with a milk frother trips GFCI outlets for some reason. As far as I know, there’s no fix for this, people usually just return the unit.
Luis
I bought the Keurig – K-Elite Single-Serve K-Cup Pod Coffee Maker in the Brushed Slate color. It doesn’t have a frother.
Danijela
Thank you, Luis! I knew that K-Cafe had this problem, but it appears that K-Elite can cause the circuit breaker to trip as well. That’s really disappointing, especially since these are the latest models. Thank you so much for your feedback!
John
I just purchased a K-Elite and have the exact same issue. The search for a fix has brought me to this thread. I live in a newly constructed home with AFCI/GFCI breakers and this coffee machine will trip any of them even being the only thing plugged into a circuit. No other appliance I have tried trips these breakers including space heaters.
PAT
My machine would start pumping water soon as I turned it on, called the co. They had no idea. Finally emptied water kept turning it upside down and shaking water tank and added more water and it worked, only thing I can think that fixed it was the float in water tank was stuck. Hope this helps someone. Try this before pitching it in garbage. Try running a magnet on outside of water tank and move float manually.
Jessica
Just got my keurig for Christmas yesterday used 3 times now all three lights on cups sizes stay lit up and also the power button stays lit up it won’t let me turn it off or on it won’t do nothing I unplugged it to see if help but still doing same thing what’s wrong
michael holmes
krueig 2 coffee still drips for 2 min after brew. the unit will not turn off unless it is unplugged .recieved bottom brew part but still drips .
Danijela
Hi Michael, I’m sorry that you’re having issues with your machine. I would first try cleaning the k-cup holder and exit needles (and the area around the holder) thoroughly to make sure there are no buildups since this can often cause a problem. Make sure not to use softened/ distilled water in your machine since this can also cause problems. If this doesn’t help, I recommend calling Keurig customer service. I’m not sure which model you have but here are instructions on how to clean the k-cup holder on classic Keurig and plus series Keurig. I hope this helps!
Courtney
Mine keeps saying sorry the brewer appears to have a problem. It won’t go past this. Ugh
Danijela
Hi Courtney, please try cleaning the pod holder and both exit needles because they are usually the problem. Here are instructions on how to clean them . Let me know how it went.
Sarah
Hi there, I am having the same problem Courtney had. I followed your suggestion about cleaning everything and performed needle cleaning, but I am still getting the same message :(
Fed UP
Just bought the new Keurig for our office. Only 2 months & now it shuts off during brewing for hot tea. Someone mentioned the tea can plug it. I cleaned the needles & ran water through it without the filter & it worked fine for 2 weeks. Then it stopped again. Descaled it still no luck. Took filter out cleaned needles again & it worked fine til now.
Why is this an issue??
Ron
I recently purchased the Elite-c at Costco. When I reach the temperature setting it reads a flashing 187. I use the arrows to raise it to 192 and then exit the settings. When double-checking, I return to the settings, 187 is flashing again. It’s it not resetting to 192, or is it stuck on 187? Everything else with the machine is terrific.
Clay Morrow
Your suggestion was 100% spot on:
KEURIG WON’T STOP PUMPING THE WATER
If you’re Keurig won’t stop pumping the water from the moment you turn it on until you turn it off, try this fix: unplug the machine, remove the reservoir, turn it upside down, shake slightly and tap the bottom a few times.
Danijela
Thank you so much for the feedback Clay, I’m so glad I could help!
Deb
We found the fix to the continuous stream of water was to discontinue the use distilled water. This from Kerrigan customer service rep. We switched and now it works.
Estelle Cope
That worked! Stopped using distilled water and it was fixed immediately! Who knew!!
nancy yarrington
the resievoir has water but the machine will not accept it , also i tried to remove the bottom of my k-35 and it will not release
Danijela
Hi Nancy, try cleaning the water tank. Remove the water reservoir and discard the water. Hand wash with mild soap and non-abrasive cloth and rinse. Plase also check the valve at the bottom of the tank and on the machine where the tank goes. The valve can sometimes get clogged and this can cause problems. Make sure to clean both exit needles as well. If this doesn’t help, please call Keurig Customer service at 866-901-2739.
Michael Chen
We use distilled water too, because I don’t want to be a slave to descaling-on-demand! So, when it goes beserk, I add a cup of tap water, and it behaves for many weeks after. My guess is maybe every 2 months or so.
Peggy
Keurig is showing nothing but power button, unresponsive
Robert Muns
Join the club I’m locked out of Keurig 2.0 this morning with the same issue. A power button on touch screen that is unresponsive. Help anyone
kayla m cassidy
Ever find a solution to this ?
Chris Wheeler
I found this article because I was having the non-stop water pumping issue and I have to say that the suggestion worked. It sounded silly, but I removed the tank, emptied the water, removed the filter tube, filter, didn’t see anything out of place, tapped the bottom, reassembled it and it started working correctly again. Thank you.
Danijela
I am so glad I could help Chris, thank you for the feedback!
Andrea Fiondo
I tried turning it upside-down, cleaning all the parts, refilling it, unplugging it and doing it all again, still pumping. Adding boiling water (almost boiling) worked. I’m now descaling and it’s working like a champ. This little one is nearly six years old. It happens every time we lose power, for some reason. Usually just unplugging it and plugging it back in worked, this time the hot water trick worked. Have filled it with cold water and it is preheating with no shooting water. Thanks all!
Joshua
Hi there,
I have a different “more water please error.” It no longer comes on. My K525 will suck the tank try and try to keep going even if I remove the tank. I ran a descale yesterday, because I needed to anyway, but the issue hasn’t gone away. Now the brewer works just fine otherwise so it’s not that big of a deal, I can just watch my tank level. But when we have guests over, water goes fast lol. Any suggestions? My Google searches have yielded nothing.
Suzanne Fortenbacher
i have this same problem
Brittney
I just received a K-Compact as a housewarming gift on Saturday and when I filled the water reservoir up I realized that it was leaking w/ a slow drip. Is that normal? I have tried 3 different kinds of coffee b/c they all came out watery thinking that I was doing something wrong. Is that leaky reservoir causing it to be watery? I was looking forward to being able to make me some coffee quickly before work.
Danijela
Hi Brittney, the K-compact needs about 60 seconds to brew an 8-ounce cup, so if it’s significantly slower than that, then something might be wrong with the machine. Please also check the used pod to make sure the machine is puncturing the pods properly, from the top and bottom side. However, the leaking reservoir is not good and I would definitely call Keurig customer service at 866-901-2739 to help you troubleshoot your machine even if everything else seems fine.
Kathy wright
I have bought 4 2.o Keurig makers. Same problem with alln4. Will not preheat at all. Water runs cold until.umpluhhef or runs out of water I thought Keurig was suppose to be so great. I wish I knew how to get a commercial one or you tell me what kind of. K cup brewer is fit to buy I’m not rich it’s hard to keep replacing it every little bit
Cj
Older Keurig where screen won’t change from “Auto Off Set.” Unplugged several times and pushed all buttons but screen doesn’t change. Thanks!
Danijela
Hi, since unplugging didn’t help, I recommend calling Keurig customer service at 866-901-2739 to help you troubleshoot your machine.
Beth Smith
I am having a problem where my Keurig 2.0 will not accept certain “approved” pods. I order via Auto-Delivery every 6 weeks. The Donut Shop Regular pods work; however, the Brown Sugar Crumble Donut from Green Mountain, the Breakfast Blend from Green Mountain, and the Celestial Tea’s Lemon Zinger Tea will not work at all. I have been on Auto-Delivery for over 1 year and order the same products every time. The last shipment (yesterday) and the previous one I have had issues with. Have you heard anything about this happening? Keurig Support has not been very helpful. They just send a voucher for a free box which does not work either.
Danijela
Hi Beth, actually I got several emails asking the same thing, so you’re not alone. If you turn the machine off, unplug it, and then turn it back on, it will usually recognize the k-cup after that. But, this is not really a solution so I would try calling Keurig customer service again at 866-901-2739. Maybe you’ll have more luck with a different customer service representative. You can also leave a message on their Facebook page, it seems that they respond fast. Two of my readers also got replacement pods, but this doesn’t necessarily solve the problem and it often has to do something with the machine and not the pods.
You can also try cleaning the laser glass with a Q-tip gently (when you lift the handle, it’s on the left side of the brew head), just to make sure there is no dirt or oils. I hope this helps.
Beth Smith
Thank you for your response. I have tried the Q-Tip trick, but it didn’t work either. I guess my next step is their Facebook page & then another call. I will keep you posted on my results.
Beth Smith
I spoke with Keurig’s Support Team earlier today. The gentleman I spoke with was so much more helpful than the last time I called. He said that my machine was no longer any good. Because I was out of the 1 year full replacement warranty, I could only get a 20% discount. He then transferred me to another area. She gave me 35% off of a new machine. It is ordered & will be mailed to me soon.
Danijela
Thank you so much for the feedback Beth!
Jamie fine
I’m having same problem. It’s not your machine it’s their pods. Looks like they are not supporting the old Keurig 2.0 machines anymore which is quite frustrating. I’m now out of all my old pods and new ones won’t work. I’ve contacted them 2x by phone & all they want to do is send new pods which again don’t work. I emailed today, waiting for response.
Maureen
Help I woke up to water all over my counter from under my Keurig coffee maker do you know what the problem may be and how to fix it?
Thanks
Maureen
Danijela
Hi Maureen, I’m sorry for the late reply. The problem is usually either the rubber band at the bottom of the water reservoir (just under the water filter) or the tear on the hose or seal inside the machine. If it’s an o-ring, you can easily replace it with a new one (here’s a tutorial on how to replace o-ring on Keurig machine). If it’s the hose or the seal inside the machine, you will need to disassemble the machine. In that case, I would rather call Keurig customer service for assistance first, before trying to fix the machine on my own. Keurig Customer service help is available 7 days a week at 866-901-2739. I hope this helps!
Danielle
My keurig just stopped working. It goes thru the steps of not ready, ready to brew and even says brewing, but it doesn’t begin to heat up or suck in water. No sounds at all are coming from the machine. I’ve done most of the cleaning ideas. Please help!
Danijela
Hi Danielle, I’m sorry for the late response, I just saw your comment. I hope your machine is working fine now. Best regards!
Danielle
It’s not working still. Now it won’t even power on :( can the motors etc be replaced? I’ve priced new ones even slightly comparable and they are well over $109. That I don’t have to buy a new one. Please help.
Danijela
I’m so sorry to hear that Danielle. It sounded like it could be something with the water tank or the valve but since it won’t power on it has to do something with the program or the power. This isn’t something you can easily fix on your own. Is your machine still under warranty, have you called Keurig customer service? Please plug your machine it into a different outlet to test it. Get rid of your filter and your problem will be solved
Danielle
I don’t have a filter. Until I started having issues I didn’t even know about the descaling and filters.
Jo Ann
Mine suddenly started leaking from th bottom and I replace the reservoir. After I replaced it, it still continued to leak. I finally realized it hadn’t leaked before I started using the water filter. I removed it from the reservoir and it immediately stopped leaking. Problem solved!
Jeff
Okay, after years of wanting one of these things, I finally bought on last month. Now I’m on my third Keurig in 33 days. The first one, a mini, I took back because it leaked water into the spillage tray. I had to dump that tray every other day or run the risk of water spilling all over my counter. So I got a 2.0 and the computer screen got stuck on option 2 — wouldn’t let me go back and choose any other option. No matter what I did: pressing the display, raising the lid, shutting it off, turning it on, unplugging it, plugging it back in — tried all of this, repeatedly, no luck. So I figured I just got a bad one, took it back, have had a replacement for 36 hours and guess what? Same problem again. Then I got on this page and started reading all these problems and thought holy smokes, these things are awful. I’ll be taking mine back later today and just getting a refund. You’ve GOT to be kidding me about this product.

Hello
I purchased a k550 about a month ago and for the last 2 days it has a very slow brew and does not finish. I took out the holder to wash but it was not much since it hasn’t been used much. I tried to clean the needles but there’s nothing to clean. I tried just dispensing water but it does that partially also. Please help
Danijela
Hi, I’m sorry for the late reply. Clogged exit needles usually cause these problems, so cleaning both top and bottom exit needle is pretty much all you can do. Descaling can also help, but I doubt that your machine needs descaling since it’s just a month old. If both exit needles are completely clean and you’re still having issues with partial cups, I recommend calling Keurig Customer Service at 866-901-2739 to help you troubleshoot your machine.
Anne
My brand new (today) 2.0 K200 will not display “Dispense Hot Water” when there is no K-cup in the machine, as my old one did.. It just goes straight to choose oz/Strong/Hot cocoa/other screen.
This is the second brewer in a week. I had to return the first one because that screen did not work properly either. Do I have another defective unit?
Danijela
Hi Anne, I am not completely sure but I think they made some changes on the K200. I think there’s no hot water on demand option anymore but it goes straight to the coffee brewing screen. Please check your manual for instructions on how to do the set-up and first cleansing brew. If everything works fine and like it says in the manual the machine is ok, it’s just a newer model.
Anne
Thanks Danijela, but the manual clearly shows “Dispense Hot Water” screen option that show automatically when there is no pod inserted. . Is the manual outdated? Please let me know since I don’t feel like returning another brewer. Thank you.
Danijela
Thank you Anne! Maybe the manual is outdated. In this case, I would call Keurig customer service at 866-901-2739 to confirm if your model has this option, based on the serial number on your machine. I would love to help with that, but I don’t know exactly which serial numbers have this option and which don’t. At least you will know for sure if the machine is working fine or it should be replaced.
Steven Sweeney
I thought I would do the right thing and run the Keurig descaler solution through my machine. During the phase where you run a dozen cups of water through the machine (no pod) to clean out all the solution and scale, the heating light came on and won’t go off, which effectively keeps the machine from working at all. I’ve powered off and unplugged the unit many times. No change. Most unfortunately, it was working fine before I decided to do this recommended, routine maintenance of descaling. Is this now a throwaway?
Danijela
Hi Steven, descaling can sometimes cause problems when calcium deposits and small particles get stuck in the machine. There is a fix when the machine is stuck in preheating mode that worked for some of my readers. You unplug the machine, fill the tank with hot water and turn the machine back on. The machine should recognize hot water and turn the heating light off. You can run a few more rinse cycles to rinse the machine completely after that.
Please note, Keurig only recommends adding cold water in the tank, so while the fix usually helps please use it at your own risk. You can also call Keurig customer service at 866-901-2739 before trying this and ask them to help you troubleshoot your machine, their customer service is usually really nice.
Steven Sweeney
Thanks. I have seen some YouTube advice about trying the hot water “protocol.” I’m at the point of having nothing to lose, since this has already consumed more time than the machine is worth, so I’ll give it a try and post again if it works. Cheers

We put our Keurig in a tote for about 6 months while we were in the process of moving. There must have been some water in the reserve I couldn’t see because when I opened the tote there was a little water in it. I rinsed the reserve, took out the filter(in it’s holder) and rinsed it well and put it back together. I turned it on and it said to add water. I did that and now for the past 16 hours the little circle has been spinning and it says filling. I can’t find out how to troubleshoot this any where. It won’t let us do anything except turn it off. HELP
Danijela
Hi Debby, that is correct, all Keurig machines have an inner tank which cannot be emptied, that’s where the water came from. There is a possibility that the hose or the valve got clogged for some reason and that’s why it doesn’t work. You can try several things. First, the tap method – remove the water tank, turn the machine upside down shake it a bit and tap the bottom a few times. Next, wash the water tank once again thoroughly and refill with fresh water. Make sure to check the valves at the bottom of the reservoir (right where the filter goes) and on the machine (when the tank goes) to check if it’s not clogged and there’s no dirt or buildups. This usually causes problems. Let me know how it went!
Lisa Barlerin
I may have a differen model, but my machine manual says to wet the filter by soaking before installing in the reservoir. I wonder if when you allowed the filter to dry out, this caused your issue. Try replacing the filter with a newly primed/soaked one.
Tim
have a keurig 2.0 it brews but doesnt finish. ive descaled it and it still doesn’t. Ive also cleaned the dispense needle. It used to make the sound of pushing air at the end but it diesnt now and the kcups have water left in them any suggestions are welcomed
Danijela
Hi Tim, clogged bottom needle and oil buildups in the k-cup holder can cause this. Have you cleaned both exit needles? Please make sure to thoroughly clean the k-cup holder, bottom exit needle, and area around the k-cup holder. Take out the holder, clean the needle and rinse the holder really well. Here’s a video showing how to do it. Also, wipe the area around the k-cup holder to make sure there are no oils and coffee grounds. Place everything back and run few rinse cycles. This should help. If the problem persists, please call Keurig customer service.

I have a 2.0 Series. Never had a problem with it until today. Lifted the handle to dispense hot water, but now the handle/ lid won’t go back down. It’s stuck in the up position… Any suggestions?
Danijela
Hi, there is helpful video I found on YouTube you might want to try it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lenlr8zAOKQ . If the problem persists or you think that something is broken, you may also call Keurig customer service to help you troubleshoot your machine. Let me know if this works for you. I hope this helps!
dennis kimsey
If you decide to purchase the K575 expect, in the first couple years, to have the lid begin to get stuck and you have to reach up inside to get it down per other posts which works. This is caused by two flimsy flaps that have been broken off by the constant use of the metal bar using them to raise to the next level when going in towards the back!! You can watch the mechanism while looking inside and following the metal rod and see where its sticking I was able to fix mine by creating a ramp out of a plastic lid 1/4 X 3/8 long with a taper in the long direction and gluing it in place of the missing flaps!!!
Serena
I just purchased a 2.0 Hot. The coffee is delicious but it’s not as hot as it was with a regular coffee maker. It gets cold in my cup before I’m able to finish it.
Is there a way to change the temperature setting?
Danijela
Hi Serena, you can change the temperature on K475 and K575, but only between 182° F and 192° F for k-cups and between 187° F and 197° F for other pod types. To do this, go to settings/ temperature and use arrows to move settings to the right. The default brew temperature on other 2.0 models is 192° F for k-cups and 197° F for other pods. Some prefer k-mugs and k-carafe pods because their brew temperature is a bit higher and closer to the optimal brewing temperature (195°–205°F). You can also try this: run one cup without inserting the k-cup to heat up the machine really well. Discard the water and insert the k-cup to brew your coffee. Rinsing your cup with hot water before you brew will also keep your coffee hot a bit longer. I hope this helps.
Rich Johnson
I have a 2.0 K425. Descaled it and the Add Water Please does not com on anymore. It is only 15 months old please help
Danijela
Hi Rich, I’m sorry that you’re having issues with your machine. You can try several things, but I am not sure it will help. First, unplug the machine, turn it upside down, shake and tap the bottom a few times. If there are any particles stuck after descaling this may help. Next, remove the water tank and wash it again with mild soap and rinse well. Check the valve at the bottom of the tank (on the tank and on the machine) to make sure it’s clean. Make sure to clean both exit needles really well. Fill the tank half full with water and rinse the machine until the water tank is empty. If the add water doesn’t work even if the water tank is completely drained, please call Keurig customer service to help you troubleshoot your machine.

The fix for “Keurig Won’t Stop Pumping the Water” worked. I use distilled water in my Keuig. I later purchased a Keurig water filter and enabled the “filter reminder”. Thanks for the help
Danijela
I’m glad I could help David! Thank you for the feedback!
Carole Williams
I’ve had the 2.0 model only 2 years. Use only purified water or reverse osmosis water – never use our hard tap water. Changed filter, reservoir is full. Put vinegar in reservoir, it but it won’t dispense liquid anymore. When I press the “i” on button, it shows preheating but there is no machine noise and it won’t dispense liquid. Does not make the preheating noise, but display shows “preheating” and the reservoir light works, clock works, etc. Unplugged it for a few days. The unit is still ice cold. Will try the upside down “spanking” method. If that does not work, unit goes to recycling site.
KnewJersey
My 2.0 was also stuck in preheating mode after a power outage. It kept dispensing cold water while displaying this message. I ended up pouring a quart or more of BOILING water into the reservoir. The cold water it was dispensing eventually turned hot and the preheating message stopped. The machine has been fine ever since.
Reggie
I got up this morning, hit the “i” button and it immediately started pumping cold water out, I had to rush, put a coffee cup under the stream, and it continued draining until I had filled 2 and a half coffee cups. No matter what I tried, plugging it in and out several times, it always kept doing the same, pouring out a lot of cold water, The screen would only display the power “i” button, I could never get a menu. Now I am at work and my wife is going to try turning it upside down as mentioned by several posters. We’ll see in a little bit if it helped.
Dave
I have the same problem. I can’t find any solutions other than use it as a door stop next to my windows computer…
Ajh
I had this problem this morning after having a power outage yesterday. Finally after unplugging the machine removing the reservoir and saying a little prayer it decided to work again. Not sure if it worked due to the prayer or to being unplugged for a few minutes.

Have the Keurig 2.0 K425S plus series. Bought it in 2016. Sometimes after I brew a cup of coffee The please wait, hot do not lift sign stays on for 5 min or more. Is this an issue that can be fixed? If so, how. Machine descaled and needles cleaned.
Help.
Danijela
Hi Jennifer, I’m sorry I don’t think any of these solutions will help, it sounds more like a problem with the program. I recommend to call Keurig Customer service at 866-901-2739 to help you troubleshoot your machine. Thank you.

I have a Keurig 2.9 350 model and 90% of the time if I use a Green Mountain (any type) or Donut type K cup the system with deliver only 1/2 cup of coffee which is full of coffee ground, with a warning that my system is clogged and needs cleaning, I then clean the needle and run clean water through the system only to have the same problem again after 2-3 cups of coffee. If I use other brands of cups the problem goes away. I am NOT using a water softner.
I am at a long time user and NEVER had this problem , as a test I gave my daughter all my Green Mountain K Cups and she has no problem using a old 1.0 brewer.
Help
Wes
Danijela
Hi Wes, cleaning both exit needles is always a good idea. I would try descaling the system with commercial descaler to make sure there are no build-ups. However, some of my readers had the same problem even after descaling and the reason was actually a defective unit. Maybe it’s not a bad idea to first call Keurig customer service at 866-901-2739, before you spend any money on cleaning supplies.
Michelle
I had to Google this problem early on when we first bought our Keurig 2.0. It’s because the cups are pressurized and so when you put them on and shut the lid it pushes coffee grounds up into the needle which plugs it. So when you’re putting your k cup in actually push it onto the bottom needle in the cup holder to puncture it before you shut the top lid. You should not have any problems after that. It works somehow by releasing the pressure out of the cup.
dennis kimsey
This is a fix that actually worked for me:)
Michael
My B70 Platinum system started this recently and I need to know if there is a fix.
I turn the system on I immediately hear a click, 10 seconds later another click, and this repeats over and over. Once normal warm up time has passed, the display will change from Ready to Brew to Not ready every 10 seconds, and the system keeps on with the clicks. Each click the display changes. I cannot brew. I’m at wits end.
Danijela
Hi Michael, I don’t think any of these solutions will work in this case. Please call Keurig Customer service at 866-901-2739 to help you troubleshoot your machine.
CWard
Hello, we have had a 2.0 for a little over a year and almost from the start we have had problems with having to do the maintenance cleaning between every cup to get it to work reliably. We had a water softener but then all water flowed through our RO system so we were assured it would be fine. Now that we have moved (no more softener or RO, just an under the sink filter) I have had to start descaling almost every weekend. I use vinegar for descaling. Otherwise we get the same message. Also we are starting to not get a full cup, and dripping for about 90 seconds or so even after the Brew Complete message. What else can we do?
Danijela
I am sorry that you’re having issues with your machine. Not using softened water anymore is actually a good thing, since Keurig doesn’t recommend using softened water in their machines because it can cause problems.
I would try descaling the machine once with commercial Keurig cleaner and also thoroughly clean the machine – clean the k-cup holder, both exit needles and all parts that come in contact with the coffee. Just to make sure nothing is clogged. Here’s a tutorial on how to clean and descale your Keurig 2.0.
If the problem persists even after you descaled the machine with recommended cleaner and you cleaned everything well, I recommend calling Keurig customer service.
Michelle
When you’re putting your K-Cups in actually puncture it on to the bottom needle to release the pressure before you shut the top lid. We had this problem early on to and I Googled it and that fixed it completely.
Scott Nickell
Why is there a hole on the left of the k-cup holder of a Keurig 2.0 machine? It looks like a separate path for liquid to travel.
Cynthia Rosado
my Keurig sounds like a jet engine it is very loud.
Danijela
Hi Cynthia, Keurig machines do make some noise, but they are usually not that loud. Please call Keurig customer service to help you troubleshoot your machine, just in case. Keurig Customer service help is available 7 days a week at 866-901-2739.
Gerald
I recently had an issue with the Fill Water light always coming on, and the poor machine sounded like it was going to die while trying to load to water. It also only would pour our about 2 Oz’s or water at a time, not nearly to required 10 Oz’s for my morning coffee. But I figured it out, and wanted to post here so you could ADD this to your list.
The problem was the reservoir. At the bottom of the reservoir at the exit point, is a very small metal mesh filter to keep particulates out. This little mesh filter had a build up (assuming from the water) and after cleaning it, it allowed the water to flow again and Everything is working as New!!
I hope that helps some people.
Danijela
Thank you so much for your feedback Gerald, I appreciate it!

I have a new keurig 575 plus and my night light doesn’t work
Danijela
Hi Susan,
please go to settings, nightlight, nightlight colors and check if one of the colors is enabled. If it’s not, choose one of the colors and click Save. If the light is enabled but doesn’t work, uncheck and check a different color to see if it will work. Please also make sure the nightlight on and off settings are disabled. If everything seems fine but the light just won’t turn on, please call Keurig customer service to help you troubleshoot your machine.
It’s the same with reservoir light settings – go to settings, reservoir light and check if one of the colors is enabled. If it’s not, choose one of the colors and click Save. If the light is enabled but doesn’t work, uncheck and check a different color to test it. I hope this helps.

I have a KEURIG VUE and it won’t let me change the hot water settings or the clock. How can I fix that?
Danijela
Hi Sandra,
can you access the menu settings on your machine but it won’t save your changes, or you can’t enter the menu settings at all?! Please go to this post. You’ll find links in the post where you can download the manual for your Vue model – see How to use Keurig Vue section. Follow the instructions from the manual for setting the temperature or time. If it still won’t work, you will need to call Keurig customer service to help you troubleshoot your machine. Keurig Customer service help is available 7 days a week at 866-901-2739. I hope this helps!

I bough a B40 a couple years ago for my mom and dad they used it for 2 weeks and did not like it so I put it in a kitchen cabinet until today when I wanted some coffee when I plugged it in and turned it on it made a small humm not at all like the noise of my 2 other ones at home and work. after about 1 minute it just shut off. tried a couple more times same thing. this thing probably made 10 cups of coffee and now nothing. what do I do
Danijela
Hi Dean,
I would try cleaning the machine: clean both exit needles with a paper clip, clean pod holder, make sure the water valve at the bottom of the water reservoir is not clogged and wash the water reservoir really well. You can also turn your machine upside down, shake it a bit and tap the bottom a few times – this can help remove some particles if it’s clogged somewhere. Put everything back, refill the tank with clean water and try brewing again. Make sure to run few rinse cycles without inserting the pod before making your coffee. If this doesn’t work, please call Keurig customer service at 866-901-2739.
brenda casteel
my machine will only do half a cup .What can I do .? Ihave cleaned it
Danijela
Hi Brenda, if you have cleaned and descaled your machine, and you’ve cleaned the k-cup holder and both exit needles thoroughly (here’s how to clean them) and the problem persists, I recommend calling Keurig customer service to help you troubleshoot your machine.
Rachel
I left an older keurig (not the 2.0) in my car overnight and now it will turn on but the lights indicating it has a pod in will not turn on (the lights indicating which cup size to brew) and the machine is very cold. I am thinking the below freezing weather has frozen the water remnants inside the machine. Should I wait and see or did I make a mistake? I was just trying to make sure I did not forget it and now I might have to buy a new one. :(
Danijela
Hi Rachel, you are correct, there is a chance that the water in the inner tank is frozen. If your brewer has been at temperatures below freezing, Keurig recommends to let it warm to room temperature for two hours before brewing. If it doesn’t work after that, it’s best to call Keurig customer service to help your troubleshoot your machine.
Barbara Peckham
We have an older Keurig that has a reservoir and two cup sizes that we received from my brother when he purchase a new one. No books or anything. Anyway, we’ve used it for a couple of years with no problem. NOW, all of a sudden, water is pouring out of the bottom of the machine and all over the counter. Is this fixable, or will we have to do without until we can get anew one.
Danijela
Hi Barbara, the reason is usually either the rubber band at the bottom of the water reservoir (just under the water filter) or the tear on the hose or seal inside the machine.
Rheba
Help!!! I can’t get my new Keurig 2.0 Hot 475 plus to switch from cups to carafe. I have gone through settings and saved the carafe setting but it won’t work!
Danijela
Hi Rheba,
have you placed the carafe and the k-carafe pod in place? With K475 you need to first remove the drip tray, place the carafe in its place and insert the k-carafe so the machine can switch the screen to carafe screen. You can’t manually switch the screen from cups to the carafe. If you have placed the carafe in its place and it won’t work, try removing the carafe and inserting again to make sure it’s placed properly. Make sure the k-carafe is in the machine and that the handle is completely closed. If you already did all this but it still won’t work, I recommend calling Keurig customer service because then something might be wrong with the machine. I hope this helps!
Anne Powell
My Keurig 2.0 (nearly 3years old) recently would not brew a carafe. I use filtered water from my refrigerator, and descale it soon after the descaling message appears. After descaling the brewer today, the carafe setting worked again. You might give descaling a try to see if that works for you, too. Good luck!
Rheba
Thanks, Anne! My Keurig was brand new, straight out of the box. I was able to get it to work by using the recommendation to cover the outer part of the carafe pod lid with a piece cut from a used cup size pod. Works now! ?

K140. Switched knob to drain, now drain light is flashing & won’t go off or drain. Brew light also flashing but won’t brew either, regardless of drain/brew knob position. Any ideas?
Danijela
Hi, I don’t know a lot about commercial Keurig brewers, but I think that after you switch the knob and the drain light starts flashing, you need to press and hold the drain button to drain. Water should start to flow from the vent nozzle into the reservoir and it will drain for as long as you hold the button or there is water in the inner thank. When you’re done, turn back to brew position. I hope this helps! If you need any further assistance, please call Keurig Technical Support team at 888-287-2739, I am sure they know a lot more about commercial brewers than I do. Thank you!
Tom arab
I have a k40. After the water heats up my cup size buttons light up but when him push one nothing happens. Any ideas?
Danijela
Hi Tom,
I recommend cleaning your coffee maker completely to make sure it’s not clogged. Here’s a complete guide on how to clean and descale. Make sure to clean both exit needles really good, as well. I hope this helps!
Sherrie
I bought the K-Compact classic series about seven weeks ago. It worked great until tonight when I tried to make a cup of cappuccino. It only filled the cup halfway then stopped. When I tried to figure out the problem I also discovered the power will not shut off except to by unplugging the unit. But once plugged back in the power comes back on. What do I do about this?
Danijela
Hi Sherrie, you can try cleaning the exit needle to check if it’s clogged with grounds, but since there are also issues with the power, I recommend calling Keurig Customer Service at 866-901-2739 (especially since it’s still under warranty).
Christine martin
Had a quick power blip and now my Keurig won’t stop pumping water when turned on. Display says preheating, but it also pumps water non stop and the only way to stop is to turn off, or it drains reservoir, and keeps runnng without water if I don’t turn off…water is not hot coming out.
I tried removing the reservoir and shaking/tapping as mentiNed above, no help.
I can’t descale it because I can’t get any other screen optiOn but preheating.
What do I do?
Danijela
Hi Christine,
please call Keurig Customer Service at 866-901-2739 to help you troubleshoot your machine.

Hello
My Keurig screen says’ “Prime” and then at the bottom of the screen it says “Troubleshoot” and the water dispenser is full but is blinking. I have turned it on and off, (I have not tried unplugging it yet) . What can I do?
Thank you
Danijela
Hi Tracy, when the machine says prime it usually means it can’t get the water out from the reservoir. You can try this: unplug the machine and remove the reservoir. Wash it with mild detergent and warm water. Make sure to clean the bottom of the reservoir really good from both sides, including the small black part where the water comes out. Also, clean a valve at the bottom of the machine (where the water reservoir goes to make sure the valve is not clogged). Next, fill the water reservoir to the max fill line and place back to its place and turn the machine on. If the prime message is gone, run one cleansing brew without inserting the pod and you can use your machine. If this doesn’t work, remove the reservoir again, turn the machine upside down, shake it a bit and tap the bottom few times. If this doesn’t solve the problem, I recommend calling Keurig customer service. I hope this helps.
Tracy
Hello
Thank you. I actually unplugged it and it reset itself and it works now.
Danijela
That’s great! Thank you so much for the feedback!

I bought a K575 at Bed Bath and Beyond yesterday. This is a replacement for one we’ve had for 18 months that broke. I set it up and after we brewed a cup of coffee, we lifted up the mechanism and threw the pod out, pushed the mechanism down and the touch screen with the clock didn’t appear. It just wanted to make another cup of coffee. It never went into the preheat mode and then the screen with the clock appears. So we returned it to BBB today. Got another one. Set it up….. same problem!!! back to BBB tomorrow. I’ve never been so disappointed by Keurig as I am now! Oh, I called Keurig support. The guy said he doesn’t know how to troubleshoot. Just told me to return it. Huh??
Bo Cole
Hello- I bought a K200 Plus 2.0 Model 3 days ago at Best Buy- it said Keurig HOT on the box.. everything worked, except for the option to just dispense hot water by opening and closing the lid with no pod. I called customer service and they walked me though the usual stuff- and ultimately said- “give it some time- it may fix itself” and I laughed. She couldn’t find her manual and said ultimately my unit must be defective and she suggested I return it since it was so new. So- tonight I did just that. I got to store and all of the inventory they had left- looked the exact same, but this time the box didn’t say “Keurig HOT” but it was like the identical unit. But in Best Buy’s systems’ they had different SKU numbers. So this lead them on a 20 min goose change trying to find one with the same SKU and ultimately the manager comes back and said the one I got was from a shipment they got sent over from the other store nearby when they ran out, and those were recalled models. So I was like ok great- maybe this is why mine didn’t work. Now- I have the new one home- same black color, although it appears to be some sort of limited edition Matte black- but in this case- SAME issue– no hot water dispense option. I just find it really puzzling because this one has a different SKU, is likely not recalled, and the instructions indicate this should be an option, instead of me having to ‘Brew’ hot water. Am I the only one here? I don’t want to keep returning it, but I also don’t want to keep running hot water through it in an improper manner if I just want to make tea or something. Oh- and this one they forgot my Brewer Maintenance Accessory- the BMA. Help? Other online articles seem to indicate this one should have this feature- with the water droplet and the H inside it, and it says ‘Dispense Hot Water’ Cancel or Continue as the choices– by mine does not.
Danijela
I am sorry that you’re having issues with your machine Bo. If the machine is working properly it should dispense hot water without any issues. However, while the K500 model has a dedicated hot water button on the right side of the main screen (a water droplet with H) other models, including K200, don’t have this option.
The correct way to dispense hot water on Keurig K200 is this: after the machine is turned on, lift and close the handle without inserting the pod. The screen should then say Dispense hot water and you need to press continue. Next, you will be asked to select brew size and press brew button and the machine should start dispensing water soon after that. (see page 21 of Keurig 200 manual). Please follow these steps and let me know if it’s working properly. Are you getting the cup choice screen right away or there are no options at all? This is the default setting for the machine and how it should work. If it doesn’t work, it won’t dispense water or the screen is not giving you any options, I recommend to call Keurig customer service once again. Maybe you’ll have more luck with a different customer service representative.
And, here’s how to use brewer maintenance accessory: turn the brewer off, fill the silicone bulb with fresh water and place the accessory in the k-cup holder. Raise and lower the handle five times to loosen any coffee grounds in the entrance needle. Remove the accessory, turn the brewer on and run one cleansing brew. I hope this helps.
Jessica
I also just purchased this same machine yesterday at Kmart. The book says Keurig Hot K200 plus. When i open and close the lid with no pod, i get the brew screen not the hot water screen. I also did not get the brewer maintenance accessory that Keurig claims comes with all 2.0 series.
I can get hot water by simply brewing without a pod but for $125 i think it should work as indicated and the screen should ask if i want to brew hot water just like the manual says. I will be returning it.
I just went through two K55s in 3 weeks because they had issues and wouldnt draw water from the reservoir to brew. I may give up on Keurig all together at this point. I need coffee and i dont expect such issues each and every morning being so unpredictable.

My machine would not stop dispensing water – cold from Time I turned on till time I turned off… couldn’t even use the MENU nothing would work!
I cannot believe it but after 20 minutes of having ZERO luck with my 2.0 I read above it said to turn upside down and shake and bang on bottom…. YES SOUNDED CRAZY AND SINCE IM CRAZY AND ITS THANKSGIVING MORNING I DID IT!!!!
It worked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU!
Danijela
I am so glad it helped Liz! You are very welcome!!!
Samantha
It was either throw it in the garbage or try hitting it a couple times upside down. I can’t believe it actually worked!!! Thank you!
Damammah
We had this same problem. No heat, and water pouring out until reservoir emptied, and no menu. We unplugged it for five minutes and turned it upside down and shook and tapped it. Still, nothing. I read this review to my husband and he turned it upside down and shook it and banged on it (much harder than it did). Would you believe it? Plugged it in, and voila, just like new. Menu works. Brews coffee. Cold water doesn’t run thru.
Joseph
I purchased a 2.0 from the Good Will with the same exact problem for $8.25. I’m guessing whoever owned it didn’t know about this site because its in really good condition. I did the turn up side down method and tapped it a few times and now it works!! This site is awesome, great info, thanks.
Danijela
Thank you so much Joseph, I am glad I could help!
Jamie
My 2.0 doesn’t produce hot coffee or water. The high altitude is enabled Any way to make it hotter ?
Danijela
Hi Jamie, there’s not much you can do about the Keurig temperature, but I’ve shared a few tips in this post, I hope this will help.
Dawn
I just got my keurig for my wedding in May. Yesterday it sorta stopped. It will brew just a drop and say it’s preheating and to add water but the water is full. Can I return to Bed Bath and beyond and get a new one? Or what can I do to fix it?
Danijela
Hi Dawn, I apologize for the late reply. When done, fill the reservoir to the max fill and return to the unit, and make sure it’s seated properly. If it doesn’t work I recommend to call Keurig customer service or return the machine.
I’m not sure about the Bed, Bad and Beyond, but you can check their return policy and see if they can replace your machine. You can also call Keurig Customer Service at 866-901-2739

I have K-200 Plus Series and i do not have temperature settings in it
Danijela
Unfortunately, Keurig K200 does not have the temperature control option. If you would like to make your Keurig coffee hotter, you might want to try one of these tips. I hope it helps!
Adam Anderson
I bought this Keurig 2.0-500 and have the correct k-cups in it and it still gives me the oops message saying its not the right one, have yet to get it to work, bought the one with the white ring around it that says can be brewed from any keurig brewer, but nothing, is there anything that im missing? do i have a bad brewer?
Danijela
Hi Adam,
you can try cleaning the laser glass with a Q-tip gently (when you lift the handle, it’s on the left side of the brew head), just to make sure there is no dirt or oils. If this doesn’t help, I recommend calling Keurig Customer Service at 1.866.950.2326.
VIckie
My Keurig 2.0 drips a full minute after the cycle is complete. What do I try?
Danijela
Hi Vickie,
Keurig needs about a minute to brew an 8-ounce cup and it drips for maybe 20 seconds after that (usually the screen says please wait during this time). The dripping will normally stop when the screen says enjoy. That’s how it usually works but it’s not a must. However, a full minute definitely sounds like a lot. I would try cleaning and descaling the machine. Also, please make sure not to use softened water since it can sometimes cause problems. If cleaning doesn’t help, I recommend calling Keurig customer service.
Pat S
What canI do, my 2.0 works great when we use the carafe but when we try to brew just a cup it shuts off within a second or two.
Danijela
I’m sorry that you’re having issues with your machine Pat. It sounds like there is something wrong with the program. Just to make sure you can try these steps: Please make sure that there is enough water in the reservoir and refill if needed. Next, check the energy saver option/auto ON OFF option. For K350 go to settings, energy saver and turn off this option. Press save to confirm and then use back to return to the settings menu. For K450 and K550 go to settings menu, then auto off and energy saving option, just uncheck the little box next to enable option. Don’t forget to press save to confirm. If auto off/energy saving mode is already disabled but your brewer still doesn’t work with k-cups, I recommend calling Keurig customer service at 866-901-2739.
Mary
Just purchased a Keurig 2.0 K575. The top goes down if the pod is not inserted. When I insert the k-cup, that came with the machine, the top won’t close.
Danijela
Hi Mary, I apologize for the delay in response. I’m not sure what might be the problem, especially if you received original k-cups. Please make sure that k-cup (or reusable k-cup) is properly aligned and close the top. You need to push the k-cup firmly down and make sure it does not stick out over the edge of the k-cup holder and also firmly push the top handle. There are needles inside and they need to puncture the pods so you will probably feel light pressure. If it still won’t close even though the k-cup is placed properly, please call Keurig support at 1.866.901.2739. so they can help and troubleshoot your machine.
Lindsey
Turning machine upside down and banging on it abd shaking it really works for other not working keurig issues too! Unplug it. Rediculous!
Shawn Workman
We have a Keurig 2.0 that started to flake out – It doesn’t matter if we are trying ti dispense hot water or have an authentic Keurig 2.0 K-Cup in the machine – we get the oops screen.
The only way we have been able to get around this is to hold the button in while opening the machine and closing it again. It usually takes several tries.
It still won’t present us with the normal Coffee screen, but we can tell it to dispense hot water.
We have tried all of the troubleshooting steps.
Do you have any advice?
Danijela
Hi Shawn, unfortunately, screen issues are very common with Keurig 2.0 brewers. My only recommendation is to call Keurig support at 1.866.901.2739. and ask them to help troubleshoot your machine.
Dale
Our Keurig 2.0 is about 1 year old. When I push the start button on lower right of screen it does not start. There is power to the unit. The water tank is full. What do I have to do to start the unit?
Danijela
Hi Dale, you can only try and unplug the brewer, wait for few minutes and plug in the brewer again. Keurig also recommends plugging the brewer into a different outlet or even resetting your home’s circuit breaker. If nothing works, you need to call Keurig customer service at 866-901-2739.
Thomas
My Kerrigan was stuck in preheating mode and would simultaneously spew water. (Literally using all of the water in the tank. I called. The lady told me clean the prongs with a paper clip. It did not work. She offered to sell me another. While mailing a cleaning device. I searched for answers…found the solution her!!! I turned it upside down and hit it like 10 times. Works perfectly. I wish I knew why but it doesn’t really matter. Thanks!!
Danijela
You are very welcome, I am glad I could help!
Thankful
I had exactly the same thing happen but luckily I found you before wasting my time on the phone. I can’t believe that worked!
Thank you!
Justin
The same thing worked for me too.
Kelsie
Mine says filling as soon as I turn it on and drains all the water out. Turn the water reservoir over? Or turn the entire machine over and tap it 10 times?
Danijela
Hi Kelsie, correct you need to turn the entire machine. Unplug the machine, remove the reservoir, turn the machine upside down, tap the bottom and shake it a little bit. Then put the reservoir back and turn the machine on to see if it will work normally. If it doesn’t, I recommend calling Keurig customer service at 866.901.2739.
Fred
On my third KURIG. This one, 400 series, 2.0, I have had this one since February 2017. Problem is, at end of cycle it pours grounds in cup. I get pressure msg on display. I have done all the maintenance. I have used different K-cups most of which come from Sams Club. The McCafe has been my choice for over a year. The last box of McCafe and a Members Mark decafe is where the problem has really been worse. We tried a new Members Mark decaf and bought Dunkin K-cup from Kohls. they both have worked. I have spoke with customer service at Kurig and after talking to them about these issues I mentioned we have a water softner on city water. They said we should not use softened water in Kurig!!!! Talked to softner company about this and they have not heard of this issue.
Danijela
Hi Fred, I am sorry you’re having issues with your machines. That is actually correct, Keurig doesn’t recommend using softened water in Keurig machines. According to Keurig, sodium in softened water has a negative effect on the pumping system. Two of my readers had this same problem and after they switched to bottled water or tap water, the problem was gone. You might want to give it a try. You need to fill the reservoir with bottled/ tap water, run few rinse cycles and then make your coffee. I hope this will work for you too.
Fred
I thank you for your response. I will do what you said and pass on to water conditioning company.
Joyce
My brand new K475 is just pouring grounds into my coffee cup! I purchased this in May. They replaced the bottom needle assembly about 2 weeks ago. Same problem. They just sent me a new system and told me to throw the other one awAy. Guess what. Same problem. I have to strain every cup and then clean it!!! I had 1 previous model for 4 years before it quit. Never had a problem until it just quit working. I do not have a softening system. I use regular tap water. It his is happening with every brand. I’m about done!!!’
Darla
I am on Keurig #2 and not their cheaper ones. Ice been more proactive with the 2.0 (i.e. cleaning it with their solution, changing the filter, etc). After a cleaning, it still kept dripping water seemingly endlessly. This time I decided to use my portable steamer. Yeah! It brewed a nice cup without the endless drip, drip, drip.

Hi. We have the Keurig 2.0 as a gift from my grandmother. So it’s been a week since we used it and now it wont turn on everytime we’d plug the transformer ( since we’re not from the US.) Might need some help or suggestions in how to fix our keurig! My mom needs coffee right now!! haha
Jerry
I had a Keurig that was just pumping water from the moment I turned it on, until it was empty. I had tried all of the above suggestions (expect turning over and tapping it) before I checked this page. I am glad I did. It worked like a charm
GLORIA J GALBERTH
I had this problem it was supposed to be heating but the water kept coming until I turned the power off. I had been using aquafina for several years customer support asked me to fill the reservoir with regular tap water instead it worked.
John Newman
I can only get the 4 oz and 6 oz options to work, the others do. It show up at all.
TT
When I want hot water it does not come out clear? I have run 3 cups of just hot water and it is still the color of cappuccino that was brewed before. What can I do to fix this issue. It is a new machine.
Danijela
If you have the time, you can clean the pod holder and exit needles. To do this, turn off the brewer and remove the pod holder from the unit. Separate the pod holder from the housing, clean the exit needle (please be careful) and rinse all the parts well. You will find detailed instructions on how to clean pod holder and exit needles in this post. Rinse everything well and dry with soft cloth. With a soft, damp cloth clean out any grounds, dirt or milky residue left in the unit around the k-cup holder and the top handle. Put the pod holder back and run few more rinse cycles. That’s it.
But don’t worry, the taste/color will get lost after few more brewing or rinse cycles even if you don’t do this detailed cleaning. I hope this helps.
Katie
We have our Keurig 2.0 for maybe 4 months.
Its now not reading my carafe when we put it in to brew. Tells me the pod isnt compatible… but its a carafe pod.
If anyone has any idea about this please lemme know! :) thank you
Heather
That is the same exact issue we are having. I’m researching now.
Danijela
Hi Heather, as far as I know, the Keurig has a sensor that recognizes if the carafe is in place. Maybe that sensor isn’t working anymore, but I can’t say for sure. I recommend to call Keurig Customer Service at 866-901-2739 or via email, in both cases – if the machine doesn’t recognizes the carafe or doesn’t read the original k-carafe pod. Please let me know how it went. Thank you in advance!

I am currently on my fourth keurig 2.0 machine since Dec 2015. The one I have now worked fine for the first several weeks. Then as with the other machines I began to either get the error message that water is under pressure. It brewed water perfectly but each time a pod was used I either git that message or the coffee would overflow from the pod and fill the cup with grinds. Cleaning.,descaling etc didn’t work. Out of curiosity I tried my K cup reusable pod and it works as does my K carafe pod. All of the Green Mountain pods I have are appropriately marked for my machine. Comment? Oh and machine number 3 wouldn’t work at all fresh out of the box and was sent back for investigation.

This is # 3 worst peace of crap I had for a Christmas , it so loud it wake the hole family up (keurig 2 )
Rick James
At first the screen kept telling us to add water. Took it apart, shook it, etc and it seems to work now. But now could you tell me if the LED/LCD Screen is supposed to go out? Ours stays on all of the time and hearing about some of them burning out has me a bit worried.
Danijela
Hi Rick,
it stays on. You need to put it in sleep mode – just quickly press and release the Power Button. The screen should go dark and the small power icon will still be visible in the corner.
Rick James
Thank you, I tried that with no luck, will try again…
J.
I had good success with unplugging it and plugging it back in.
John samus
I have an issue with turning off the light?
Danijela
Hi John, try the nightlight settings. Disable the nightlight on option, or enable the nightlight off option, maybe that will work. Let me know how it went. Thanks
Kay
Got replacement Keurig K575 for older model that stopped working, made 6 cups, got error message “Oops, water under pressure, …”. We’ve used their gadget to pump out debris. Found that we could plug and unplug when we wanted coffee, if it was several hours apart. Now it won’t even do that. Another new machine is being sent. All this during Christmas. Keurig has great customer service, but at this rate, they need it. Got my old Bunn stand by, been working years and has made 1000’s of cups of great coffee.
KT
My KEURIG consistory clogs when I try a “Donut Shop” decaf pod. Consistently. It works well when I use regular coffee pods (either Donut shop or Starbucks). Is there a brand of decaf that works or is something amiss with this machine? Again, regular coffee works fine but decaf never works. Any help would be appreciated.
Kim
We have the SAME exact issue…. I’m going to try to descale the machine to see if that helps
Amy
Same problem for me!!! Decaf Donut Shop only causes the problem. It’s infuriating!!!!!!
Patty Graham
Haven’t seen this problem yet . . . ,my sister’s Keurig produces the coffee but when she pours in her almond milk, it immediately curdles (and really stinks up the kitchen). Anything we can do (the machine has been cleaned)?
THANKS
Danijela
Hi Patty,
your machine is fine: it’s a combination of non-diary milk and coffee. The coffee is more acidic than almond milk and it acts like a coagulant. High temperature accelerates this process and that’s why you get a mess when you add cold almond milk into hot cup of coffee. This also happens to soy milk.
Allowing the coffee to cool a bit before adding milk can help. Or you can pour the milk first, then gradually add the coffee while stirring to even out the temperature.
Carol Davis
My Keurig will not pump from the heated resavore to make the coffee. Everything else works, it pumps the water from the exterior resavore to the heated resavore but that nothing.
Hope you can help.
Thanks

My Keuring 2.0 K200 plus will not power off.
Sandee Simon
I am having the same problem.. I have tried to reset the factory setting and unplugging but can’t find a solution so far. Any more suggestions
Dale
Hi we have the k150 model at work and it is our second one. It continues to display press continue but nothing is happening.
Danijela
Hi Dale, I don’t know a lot about commercial Keurig brewers. Please call Keurig Technical Support team at 888-287-2739 to help you troubleshoot your machine. Thank you.
Gary Maddox
I have a key Keurig 2.0 model 500. My problem seams to be just the opposite of all of these. My machine won’t stop brewing now. No matter what number of oz’s I set it for, it will pump the reservoir dry. I have to stand there and cancel the brewing when the cup gets close to full. Any ideas?
Danijela
Hi Gary, this used to be a no fix problem. I think it’s best to call Keurig customer service and see if they have some new instructions or can replace your machine. You can try this though: unplug the machine, remove the reservoir, turn the machine upside down, tap the bottom, and shake it a little bit. Then put the reservoir back and turn the machine on to see if it will work normally. If it doesn’t, then it’s definitively broken and I would give them a call at 1.866.901.2739.
Gary Maddox
Are you serious? Don’t know if you are or not but hey otta try something.
Danijela
Hi Gary, I know it sounds funny but can help with leaking machines but also with short cup problems. Of course, you don’t need to shake it or tap it really hard, just turn it upside down, shake slightly and tap the bottom few times. You can Google it and see what others have to say about this method. It doesn’t work all the time, but it often helps.
I forgot to ask, have you cleaned your machine recently?! Descaling your machine can help too. You will find descaling instructions on the blog, here’s how to descale classic series Keurig brewers and how to descale 2.0 Keurig brewers. I hope this helps.
Again, sometimes the only option is to send a request to Keurig support and ask them to help you troubleshoot your machine. All the best.
tom
Keurig said prime. Tried everything short of taking it apart piece by piece. Finally, while still plugged in, I turned it upside down over the sink, shook it vigorously, lots, banged on it good all over, lots. Stuff came falling out. I could hear the water connecting with the heater (little spits and spurts of steam sounds from inside). Turned it back upright, the blue ‘needs water’ lights blink, I attach a full reservoir of water, says I can brew, I push the button and vwalla! it worked. Removed and emptied the reservoir , turned the machine over one more time, shook it, and banged it all around few more times then set it up and ran a reservoir of 50/50 vinegar/water into it, when the blue “needs water” lights blinked I left the machine, now full of 50/50 vinegar/water, to sit and descale for the next four hours. After 4 hours, ran two reservoirs of water through till vinegar taste gone and we’re back in business. Shakin and bangin the thing upsidedown worked. Doing this while plugged in I can’t helped heal it but I was able to hear water hiss on the heater and that let me at least know that my heating element still worked. Before, during the “prime” time, the only water it would put out was cold so I thought my heater had failed. Apparently the coils were hot all that time but the water line to the heat was clogged and the shakin and bangin knocked out the clog and boom! done. I almost threw the thing out!
Evie
Tried the same thing with mine and nothing! It was hurt running cold water thru constantly by just hitting the power on button! Tried the upside down shake and bang and nothing so I call customer service and they said it couldn’t be fixed and offered a discount on a new one! No thank you! Me being the stubborn Mom I am decided to give the old shake and bang or tap one more try and bam it works like a charm!!! So glad I didn’t listen to them lol
Jennifer
My LCD screen has gone out and it’s out of warranty. I rarely drink coffee and have it for guest, so it has been used very little. It is out of warranty so they are offering to sell me one at a very small discount. If they know there is an issue with the LCD screen why have they not recalled the product. For what we pay for the machines and coffee you should stand behind your product. Very disappointed! This is my third machine and probably my last!
Scott
The same thing with us Jennifer. Just called customer service talk with somebody that didn’t communicate very well there’s nothing I can do butt buy another one 35% discount. We have used ours less then 30 times for coffee. Very disappointed to spend a lot of money to get a nice stylish coffee maker for guests for the holidays and it’s crap! Sincerely Scott Shafer
Debbie
I have had similar experiences with their customer support. They are very willing to sell a new machine, but can’t help fix this one. I will not buy another.
Lyle
Same thing happened with the screen to us, just out of warranty too.
Sounds like a class action suit to me especially if they know about the issue and refuse to fix the problem.
Any lawyers out there that could take this case on?
The wife is pissed after spending a lot of money on our second machine for our retirement home.
Laura
I bought my Keurig a couple of years ago. After the brew process, when I lift the handle water runs out and keeps dripping. I noticed it’s not making the squirting noise at the end of the brew. Any ideas on how to fix this?
Danijela
Hi Laura, you can first try cleaning the exit needle (here’s how to clean it http://coffeestylish.com/how-to-clean-a-keurig/ ). This normally helps. If it doesn’t, you can also try this fix: unplug the machine, remove the reservoir, turn the machine upside down, tap the bottom, and shake it a little bit. Then put the reservoir back, fill it with few cups (you don’t have to fill it to the MAX just in case), plug in and turn the machine on to see if it will work. If this doesn’t help, it’s time to call Keurig customer service. Good luck!
Gentry
I have this same issue with a brand new 2.0 machine. I have had several Keurig machines over the years and never had this issue. Did yours ever work correctly? We are considering this defective and plan to return it this weekend.
Anna
It did work correctly. It’s 1 yr old. I took it completely apart and cleaned it. Then it continued to leak the first couple times I used it, then all of a sudden starting working again. I have no idea whats going on with this thing. I really wish I would of read reviews before I bought it.
Norma
Troubleshooting question.
Hello there, My Keurig 2.0 brews but recently when the water is low the light indicator is not flashing when water is needed. It doesn’t show “add more water” message anymore. ? I have descaled the keurig about ago and even then the add water message did not display. The water indicator used to shows the message just fine.
Anna
My keurig is about a year old. After the brew process, when I lift the handle water runs out and keeps dripping. I noticed it’s not making the squirting noise at the end of the brew. Any ideas?
Tim curtis
My third machine 2.0 now preheat won’t go out but I know there is no water being pumped in.
Like the convenience but again my third machine
Jeff
We got our 2.0 last December for Christmas to each other.
A few months ago the screen started getting all screwed up and jumbled. We sometimes cannot even locate the cup choice button but poke at it until we get our 10oz. cup.
Unplugging it and restarting doesn’t really help. Even left it unplugged yesterday all night. Nothing.
Help.
Danijela
Hi Jeff,
screen issues are very common with Keurig brewers and it’s not something you can easily fix on your own. I recommend to contact Keurig Customer Service at 866-901-2739. All the best.
Lee Ann
Same problem. Every once in a while we get the actual screen but usually it’s just blindly tapping the right area of the screen. FRUSTRATING!
Vicki_D
If you registered it, it would seem you are in the 1 yr warranty period. They replaced mine for the same issue a couple months ago.
Alex
Same issue here! Displayed a double screen (home screen over the preheat screen) first time that I plugged it in. Thought possibly because it was first time receiving power. Then it didn’t occur again for a few weeks.
Now, it is a pretty regular occurrence. So trying to avoid packing it all up and hauling it back to Kohls. Was hoping that with more use it would “settle in”.
The screen is mostly illegible and very difficult to navigate. C’mon guys! LCD screens are not exactly new inventions. Keurig/Green Mountain has a crapload of loyal customers. How about getting this right for us!!!
Leesey
I’ve had my keurig 2.0 for about a year now and I just noticed that the lever handle no longer stays “up” when I go to insert a k cup. It keeps falling down and I have to manually hold it open to insert the k cup. Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know how to fix it? Thank you!
Danijela
Hi Leesey,
I wouldn’t try fixing this on my own, especially because there’s a less chance to get a replacement or service if you open/fix the machine on your own. Just call Keurig Customer Service at 866-901-2739 for assistance. Good luck.
Ash
Hi! I recently had to take my machine apart to clean it. Long story short I had to take apart every single piece of the machine I could, including the bottom, and clean it out. Once I started to put it back together, a tiny spring fell out of it. The brew lid/k-cup holder is a bit wonky now, off track I think, and the machine will power on, will prompt for water and coffee, but it will not recognize the holder is replaced and then send water through to brew, which prompts the start button to flash. I think it’s because of this spring, from behind the k-cup holder. Any ideas???
Danijela
Hi Ash,
there’s a metal spring that connects the handle with the unit, just under the handle lid. If you can place it back on, that would be great. Try finding the disassembly video for your model to see where it’s placed. Here’s an example for Keurig elite model https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=32RR9PAToao. All the best.
Ash
Thanks! I did figure out where the spring goes, but it still won’t recognize when I’ve closed the lid assembly/ k cup holder; it still won’t prompt to add water (the lid light just stays blinking), so I still can’t get to the brew option. What can I do to problem solve and fix this?
Danijela
In that case, I would call Keurig Customer Service (866-901-2739). I think they can help more with that “technical part”. Let me know how it went or if you need anything else.
Melissa
My keurig 2.0 won’t brew while being on the only thing happening is water coming out through the reservoir and handle is completely down with power on what could be a possible cause for this?
Danijela
Hi Melissa, please contact Keurig Customer Service at 866-901-2739.
Vicki_D
Last Thursday the touch screen on my Keurig 2.0 stopped working except for the power button and “i” button. I could not make anything but an 8 oz cup, and could not make strong. I could press the “i” button and get to the setup menus, but could not do anything in the menus, nor could I get out of the menus as the screen would not accept those touch commands. I had to unplug to get back to the main screen and the power button that still worked.
I called Keurig, and since I only got this in Oct last year at Costco, it was still under warranty. I explained the situation to the girl on the phone, but this was one issue she said she had not heard of. She checked with her supervisor, and said they had no fix, but they would send me a new one. The only issue with that she said was that they were currently out-of-stock on my model but would have them in 7-10 days and would send one then. Told her that would be ok as it still works partially only brewing 8 oz cups and I could get by until a new one gets here.
Friday morning even the “i” button quit working.
Well, this morning, after I brewed my first 2 cups, it turned itself off and the power button will not even work now after several unplug/plugin cycles.
Mike Blaschum
My 2.0 Brewer brews ok but the cup is full of grounds. I tried everything in users guide but still cup full of grounds.
Jon
Hi Keirig! We have had our 2.0 for a bit over a year. Now the screen has turned off, still showing the power button, but nothing i do will turn the machine on. Iv tried plugging into a different outlet, trying the circut breaker and even giving the Keurig a full cleaning. I love this machine and your products so much and i cant stand to be with out them. Is their anything you can do to help me?
Danijela
Hi Jon,
please contact Keurig Customer Service for assistance. Their customer service help is available 7 days a week at 866-901-2739. Thank you.

This is our 3rd unit and they all gain time on the clock, except at high altitude. Anyone see this problem as well?

The last few times I used the K-Carafe Filter in my 2.0 the water does not come out hot. It works fine when I use a regular K-cup. Any ideas
Michael Wheeler
My Keurig does not get the coffee hot enough for me. I have to put the coffee in the microwave to bring the temperature to my liking. Is there anyway to adjust the heat level?
Danijela
Hi Michael, which model do you have? The classic K-cup models brew at 192°F and this can’t be changed. If you have a 2.0 series brewer K475 or K575, you can change the temperature but between 182° F and 192° F for k-cups and between 187° F and 197° F for other pod types. To do this, go to settings/ temperature and use arrows to move settings to the right, to high.
The default brew temperature on other 2.0 models is 192° F for k-cups and 197° F for other pods.
Maybe you can use k-mugs and k-carafe pods more often because their brew temperature is a bit higher and closer to the optimal brewing temperature (195°–205°F). Or, when you turn on your machine in the morning you can first run one cup without inserting the k-cup to heat up the machine really well and then insert the k-cup to brew your coffee. That’s just an idea. I hope this helps.

My 2.0 splashes coffee everywhere. It trickles into the cup so slowly and ramdomly rthat I have to clean the counter every day. Plus now, the auto on doesnt work after less than a year. Anyone have any idea how much electricity it uses if I just leave it on all the tieme?
Denise Lay
I have the issue! Help!
Joyce Lawlyes
My 500 2.0 worked fine . The screen said it descale and I used cider vinegar after that it would only have water come out the 2nd filling ( with lots of drop falling). I cleaned it and cleaned out the needles step by step with the customer service rep. She sent me a maintenance kit and after that neither pumps would work . Now it lights up and nothing else, I can’t even hear any sound coming from the machine.. She offered to send me a new machine for $150.00, but why spend more money on a machine that doesn’t work after not quite 2years. Does anyone have the same thing happen to,their machine?
Lori Delfs
We uses auto on off. It’s set half hour earlier then we get up in the a.m. Keurig says ready. The water is full. We hit the button for 10 oz press start. It pumps twice then stops then screen indicates it’s in heating water cycle! After 5 to 10 min. It’s ready to go for the day. This happened for 3 days. We unplugged etc. Now we just don’t use the auto start and leave on 24/7 and works fine. Anyone know how to fix this or relate?
Danijela
Hi Lori, it sounds to me like the water cools down during these 30 minutes and the machine needs to heat it up again, like it preheats water between cups…What you can try is to set the auto on just 5 or 10 minutes before you need it and see if this will fix the problem with the double preheating. If not, then there’s probably something wrong with the auto on/ off feature and you should call Keurig customer service (866-901-2739). Although 5 or 10 minutes for preheating is quite long there’s probably something wrong with the machine. Good luck!
Margaret Cordier
New Machine and about half of the grounds goes in the coffee. What can be done to eliminate this.
Bob Garies
Just bought 2.0 560 series brand new. We followed all the start up instructions but it wont preheat and when we turn it on it tells us to take out the shipping disk. so we do then it says continue so we press continue. It runs a bunch of water that is not hot and then turns off after its done pumping. Tried turning it back on and it does the same thing over and over and over. Tried unplugging and plugging back back in. It was a gift formy wife so very unhappy with the product so far.
Shell
I just bought a 250 today and while setting up it literally stopped and I could not get it to show anything on the screen at all. Unplugged and replugged again and agin. Screen was just blank and wouldn’t respond. ??? Are you kidding? Did I just spend $129 on a piece of crap that won’t work even once?
Cid
Any equipment will have a small % of DOAs, and that’s what warranty protection is for! I’m sure K will replace it for you painlessly. You may need your receipt. I’m a lot more concerned with difficult and impractical out-of-warranty issues like the white screen of death. I think most of their units are satisfactory but a few just due.
Falynne Michelle
When descaling my 2.0 it doesn’t ever say to “add more water” ?? I follow the directions to the T and still nothing. This is my replacement keurig I’ve had for a year
Danijela
I’m confused too, never had that case before. When the machine runs out of water the 2.0 should always indicate “more water please”. It only makes sense if it gets stuck during dispensing process but you would notice that. And you only need to dispense water like 3 or three times before an entire reservoir is dispensed. There’s about 28 ounces of solution so it should run out of water after 4th, 5th cup if you’re using 6 cup setting or even before with the 10 cup setting.
You can try doing it on your own…like add the solution, dispense three or four cups, let it stand for 30 minutes and then remove the reservoir, rinse, fill with fresh water and so on (http://coffeestylish.com/how-to-clean-keurig-2-0/). But, if it doesn’t recognize the reservoir then it’s probably something with it’s “brain” and I would personally call Customer service and ask them to help with troubleshooting. Is that a new replacement that’s not working, or they’ve already sent a replacement and the old machine wasn’t working properly? You can also try and unplug the machine then plug it back in to reset it, but I’m not sure it will help at all.
Falynne Michelle
Yes, this is the replacement keurig. My first one whitescreened and I’ve had this once since. At other times it will indicate “add more water” when the level is low but not all the time and its never done it while I descaled.
Danijela
I would then definitely call Customer Service. Please let me know how it went if you find the time. Thank you
Michelle
I’m having the same issue!
Mike Blaschum
I spent 30-40 min on phone with cust service. Tried everything, and finally got it to work. After 2nd cup brewer wouldn’t work. Called cust service again and they sent me new replacement. Got it in 2 days and it works better than original.

I’m having this same problem!
Bill Dickerson
I have always used bottled water – a filtered drinking water in my 2.0 I can’t recall the first descaling I did last year but the one last week did the same thing described here. It sucked the water from the tank and never did say “more water please”. I was confused by the instructions as I don’t have a 10 ounce choice, only 6 or 4 when not using coffee. For plain hot water – when descaling it’s only those two choices, 6 or 4 so I used the 6 or course. It kept putting out black chunks and crud and after descaling and pumping itself dry I noticed it now won’t stop dripping for at least a full minute after saying “enjoy”. It used to stop dripping the instant it said enjoy and started the next preheat cycle. I wonder if there’s mold and crud plugging things as it acts weird since descaling.
I noted two things during descaling – it doesn’t say more water please, it doesn’t stop dripping now like it used to. When I do normal coffee making it DOES ask for more water, but still drips almost a stream for a good minute after brewing and the sound is different. I even spend another TWELVE BUCKS for another bottle of cleaner/descaler and did it again, still no joy but am extremely concerned about all of of the black odd shapes coming out of it and wonder if that’s plugging up valves or something causing the dripping now. Maybe cleaning broke things loose!!
Heather Smith
Once I turn my unit on the screen says “preheating” while water is steadily flowing out and doesnt stop until I unplug it.
Paul
Have the same issue. Turned off keurig for awhile, when i hit the power button, the preheat comes on but it immediately starts pumping water and doesnt stop until i unplug it.
Danijela
Hi Paul, you can try this fix: unplug the machine, remove the reservoir, turn it upside down, shake slightly and tap the bottom few times. I know it sounds funny but it often helps. Descaling your machine can help too. You will find descaling instructions on the blog. If this doesn’t work neither, the only option is to call Keurig support at 1.866.901.2739. Happy holidays!
Tom

My 2.0 was also stuck in preheating mode after a power outage. It kept dispensing cold water while displaying this message. I ended up pouring a quart or more of BOILING water into the reservoir. The cold water it was dispensing eventually turned hot and the preheating message stopped. The machine has been fine ever since.
Cindy Imel- Copulos
I have the 2.0 and am trying to turn off the light that is located on the base of the water reservoir. It lets me change color of the light, but I actually want to turn it off. I called customer service and she had me change the auto on/off but that didn’t work. Can anyone help?
Danijela
Hi Cindy, try the nightlight settings. Disable the nightlight on option, or enable the nightlight off option, maybe that will work. Let me know how it went. Thanks
Sally Callahan
My Kureg screen is blank. Tried plugging it in in another socket like recommended. It did not take care of the problem. Called the customer service and they told me there was nothing they could do for me. It was past the warranty period. But offered a new machine for “discounted” price of over $116. That’s about what I paid for the one I have. Discounted my foot. The machine should have lasted longer than a year not being used every day. Definitely not satisfied. Rethink your thoughts on purchasing!
Danijela
Thanks so much for your feedback Sally.
Chuck Johnson
Call them back and don’t take no for an answer. They will send you a new machine free, but you have to get past the first levels of customer sevice. We’ve had to do this 3x between ours, my sister in law, and my daughter.
Shell
OMG! Why didn’t I read this website before I bought mine today! It hasn’t even got through the set-up stage without problems. I just wanted a simple cup of coffee, not a new problem to deal with!
Susan Buchanan Barker
My Kuerig screen keeps going blank have taken it back to the store and replaced it twice. I’ve unplugged it and plugged back in and that will work for a brewing cycle then it happens again
Utahna Harris
Hi! I am aware of the auto on/off feature, but is it a normal function of the 2.0 to have to wake the machine up to reheat the water after a few hours of inactivity? Couldn’t find anything about this in the manual:)
Danijela
Hi Utahna, as far as I know, if it’s in the sleep mode it shouldn’t turn on it’s own. I would make sure that auto on/ off is disabled and call Keurig customer service (866-901-2739).
Sue Wagner
Hello, I have a keurig 2.0 and last night when I turned it off, it came right back on after about 10 seconds. I tried 5 or 6 more times and the same thing happened. So I unplugged it for a few minutes. Same thing after I plugged it back in. I had to unplug it overnight. Plugged it back in this morning and it does the same thing. The touch screen is giving me issues too now. I have to touch in the corner of everything to get it to work. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks…Sue
Danijela
It sounds like there’s something wrong with the auto on/ off feature so please make sure that auto on is disabled, although even if it’s on it should turn on the brewer at specific time not after a set length of time… Maybe you should call Keurig right away because I’m pretty sure there’s something wrong with the computer. Customer service: 866-901-2739.
Sue Wagner
I called Keurig. Thankfully it’s still under warranty for another month. They are replacing it with a brand new one. Not even a refurbished one, a brand new one. So I’m very pleased. Thanks for your help. Sue.
Sharon McCann
My keurig doesn’t completely drain. After the brew completely stops dripping when I lift the handle there is a gush of liquid from the cup are – not the needle. Descaling, cleaning needle, running water rounds to clear out the cup holder hasn’t fixed it. Any clue?
Danijela
Hi Sheron, well since you’ve already done everything you could I recommend to call Keurig customer service 866-901-2739 to help you troubleshoot your machine. Perhaps there is some leakage so I would check with them to make sure the machine is still save to use. I would appreciate your feedback. Thanks!
Marcy Smith
I have a k300 and it is stuck on ‘lift to begin’ nothing I do helps!
Danijela
Hi Marcy, if you see the same message even after you lift the handle and close it, please unplug your machine, wait for 30 seconds and plug it back in. If that doesn’t solve the problem please call Keurig customer service 866-901-2739. All the best

I have a keurig k series. After every brew, the add water and heating lights flash. Why is that?
Amy Hewitt
Help! Getting really frustrated!!!
As of recent when brewing my coffee, my cup is full of grounds. I’m not talking just a few.. I’m talking the entire bottom is thickly covered!
We’ve cleaned both top and bottom needles when it first started to happen.
Forgot to mention we have the 2.0 I believe the 400 series?
Doug-las Wag-goner
Hi Amy, we have gone through 3 different 400 series 2.0 machines in the last few months. All of them are doing the same thing yours is doing, leaving ALOT of grounds at the bottom of the cup. I was wondering if you have found a solution? The problem seems to happen mostly when we use the McCafe kpods purchased from SAMs club or Walmart. Although it has done it several times with other brands also.
Would love to hear if you have found a solution. Thank you
Amy Hewitt
We found out that the piercing needle inside was full of grounds. Took a paper clip and cleaned it out, no problems since!!
Kelly
I bought the same Keurig and Mcafe pods from Sams and had the issues! I took mine back as I had it for only a few days..it kept saying “too much water pressure” or it would be full of grounds. Ugh I really like the idea of the keurig brewers..just unsure if I should try it again..
Doug Dreyer
I have a Keurig 550 2.0 that I purchased from Costco about 10 mos ago….I’m all of a sudden getting the “Oops” message and I’m using the Kcups designed for the 2.0 machine. This has gradually been getting worse over the last month in a half….I’ve wiped down the tops of the Kcups, cleaned the brewer head, reset the machine….normally wiping the cups works but it’s getting to the point where when I put a cup in it takes multiple times of opening and closing the brew head before the Kcup is read and will start brewing…any thoughts?
Danijela
Hi Doug, if it’s getting worse I would call Keurig customer service (866-901-2739), especially if the machine is still under warranty. No need to wait.
Tommy Josko
not happy with this product, went thru 2 machines in 3 years because of pump problems, at a cost of $149.00 thats $298.00 not counting the over priced coffee pods. went bact to MR coffee for $25.00. makes 12 cups. if this breakes in 1 year im still way head. sorry Keurig you lost my bussiness
Dawn Duarte
trying to set up my Keurig 2.0 and I have cleaned and filled the water reserve but the stupid screen keeps saying is needs more water and the reserver is full? why does it keep saying it needs more wather ?
Danijela
Hi Dawn, since you’ve already cleaned the reservoir and there’s water at the MAX fill line, you can only remove and place the reservoir back to the unit to make sure everything is placed properly, then press continue. You can also unplug and plug in the machine just in case. If there’s enough water in the water reservoir, reservoir is placed properly, the machine was turned off/on but you’re still getting this error it’s time for customer service.
Donna Zens White
My Keurig 2.0 displays the Please Wait, Do not lift sign too long.. What’s wrong?
Danijela
HI Donna, once preheated, the machine brews a 8 oz cup in about 49 seconds and needs about 2.30 minutes to brew an entire carafe. It also needs about 3 minutes to do an initial preheating. If it takes much longer for your machine to finish a cup, you can call Customer service and check with them, maybe they can help you troubleshoot your brewer.
Donna Zens White
I changed my coffee back to Donut Shop Brand… it works good again… The stuff you buy from Walmart says Keurig on it… but I think the tops get heated to hot… Wrecks the machine… Anyway… No more walmart coffee…
Gaylon McCorkle
I did this and mine is working fine now.
Josee Joly
Did what?
Gaylon McCorkle
I took a paper clip, opened one end and clean around the exit needle. The thing you put the k cup in puts out. Twist the botton and it comes a part there is a needle there I cleaned it with paper clip end. The other needle I was talking about is where you push the handle down to start the K cup.
Josee Joly
I have the keurig 2.0 and I want it to turn on and ready to brew for 5:15 am and it won’t work what am I doing wrong
Danijela
Hello Josee, the brewer will not sometimes brew if there’s not enough water in the reservoir. Also, if you lift the handle or move a carafe after you turn on the auto ON, the auto brew will cancel. Maybe that happened. If you’ve done everything right, there was enough water in the reservoir, you didn’t move a carafe or lift a handle after you’ve set the auto on, the enable was checked and you didn’t forget to press SAVE, but it still doesn’t work then it’s because of the machine and you can call Customer service. Sorry for the late reply, I hope everything is working fine.
Coni Sbragia
First cup brews fine….but I have to wait 10 minutes or more to brew second cup. WHY?
Danijela
Hi Coni, which model do you have? The new Keurig 2.0 needs maybe 10, 15 seconds to heat up between brews. Add around 50 seconds to brew a 8 ounce cup, it shouldn’t take longer than maybe 1 minute, 1:30 to brew a second cup. If it takes 10 minutes, then there’s something wrong with the machine and I recommend to call Customer service.
Penny
My 2.0 is taking 2.45 minutes to make 8 oz cup and 3.5 to make 10 oz cup. And it won’t recognize the pot any longer, just says add water. Time for new?
Danijela
Hi Penny, cleaning your machine could probably help with these long brewing times, but since there’s also a problem with the pot, I would call Keurig customer service first. Just so you don’t waste any time on cleaning if a machine needs to be replaced anyway. Keurig Customer Service help is available 7 days a week at 866-901-2739. Let me know how it went. Thanks for stopping by.
Kelsey
The touch screen on my keurig doesn’t respond well. It only works if you use a pointy object to touch the very bottom right corner near the plastic edge. I have another keurig of the same model at my office and have never had a problem with that one. Is this fixable?
Danijela
Hi Kelsey, since it’s not working properly, I think it’s best to call Keurig customer service. I wouldn’t try fixing it on my own. Their Customer service is available 7 days a week at 866-901-2739.
Jeff Bates
We’re having a problem with our touch screen. The screen keeps going blank, sometimes all you have to do is close the lid and reopen it a few times, then it will work again. Any suggestions?

Just got a Keurig 2.0 K300 for Christmas… Thank goodness I still kept my old machine! Did the set up, etc.. Great.. Today trying to brew a coffee (just a single pod) and it has said ‘preheating’ for at least 20 min or so.. This is nuts! How freaking long does it take to brew one lousy cup??
So I got fed up, plugged my old one back in next to the new one and it heated up with 2 minutes from being completed unplugged.. New one took more than an hour to ‘reheat’ and it’s been plugged in since last night!! Ahhhh.. Technology.. Ugh. I have both plugged in now side by side on my counter.. For the times I can’t wait an hour for a cup of coffee, I will go back to my old reliable sitting next to it.. Yikes
Amber Phillips Lucatero
I got a keurig 2.0 for Xmas… When I try to just brew water, it pops up and says oops your using the wrong k cup. Only problem is there isn't one in just brewing hot water…
Danijela
Hi Amber, when you lift the handle and close it without inserting the pod, it should says Dispense Hot Water and you should press continue, then choose the brew size and press brew. If you don’t see this option (dispense water) but you only get the oooops notification, then it might not be a bad idea to call Keurig customer service to help you troubleshoot your machine.
Brenda E
Try putting an empty k-cup in the machine. Works for me.

2.0 stuck on ” remove shipping disk” is it broken or is there something else in there I removed the orange shipping disk but keeps saying remove shipping disk and won’t do anything else

Mine too…figure it out?

I have the Keurig 2.0 and when I plug it in it blows the circuit. Any advice on how to fix or do I have to call the customer service #? It’s x-mas eve and they are closed :(
Kelly Mills
My keurig when I go to brew only the large cup button will blink then it won’t brew I have to unplug it and plug back in.
Mike Murphy
I have this same problem. After unplugging then reinserting the elec cord plug into outlet it makes one cup perfectly but will not make another until it has been unplugged from electrical power and the plugged back in again. This all started occurring after descaling because it was pitting out very small servings.
Thomas Schroeder
Similar problem. The Keurig must be either turned on and off, or unplugged to the all three cup sizes to blink. But if I select the smallest or the middle nothing happens except that cup size stays lit and does not blink. But if I select the large cup size the coffee maker provides 1.5 to 2.5 cups of hot water. At the same time, the tiny spout at the top of the Keurig puts hot water back into the reservoir. I don’t know if that is normal or not. After the large cup is finished its light remains lit but nothing can be done until it is turned on and off again (or unplugged) in which case I can repeat the large cup only process.
Rob
Same exact problem! I would love a fix for this not just call customer service.
Brett Ryan
I have a k300 and when it’s preheating, water is coming out of brewer (where coffee comes out) and doesn’t stop til water reservoir is empty. And when I lift up handle where k cup goes water squirts all over the place. Any suggestion??
Danijela
Hi Brett, call Keurig customer service at 866-901-2739. I’m pretty sure your machine is broken. All the best
Scott Humphrey
Keurig K550 turns off after it warms up, I select cup size and press keurig 2.0 button to start my brew. Any advice?
Danijela
Hi Scott, can you access the settings menu? If you can, go to auto on/off and check if auto off or energy saver is not enabled. If it is, turn it off. Also, make sure there’s always enough water in the reservoir. If both seems fine but still not working, I would then call Keurig customer service at 866-901-2739. Hope this helps.
Peter Abec
I’ve had an issue with mine that was easy to solve: don’t use the doughnut shop flavor. My machine leaked coffe grounds and clogged up repeatedly, but with only that flavor. I noticed that the used cup had a crease up the side of it right where the outlet hole is punched (just on that flavor). I measured the cups with a micrometer and found that the doughnut shop k cup is just a bit wider than the others, causing the outlet hole to distort and allowing it to pass coffee grounds and clog up the outlet.
Roseann Sullivan
I have noticed that some brands of k cups seem to be prone to grounds in coffee..have limited my selections to the few that work well
Neal Smith
Brand new Keurig 2.0 stuck on preheating, almost 2 hours now. Is this unusual?
Danijela
Hello Neal, the machine needs about 3 minutes to do an initial preheating. If the process takes longer, then it’s possible that something is wrong with the machine. Unplug and plug in the brewer again to repeat the process, just in case. Make sure that the water reservoir is in place and there is enough water in the tank. If everything seems fine but still nothing happens, I recommend to call Keurig customer service. Customer service help is available 7 days a week at 866-901-2739. Please let me know how it went. All the best
Janie Barnett Anderson
Must the K-450 always pre-heat everytime I want to do something-like set the autobrew?
Danijela
Hi Janie, if the machine is already turned on, then there’s no preheating.
Keurig preheats automatically when you turn the machine on: when you plug in the machine, when turned on after auto off or energy saver, etc.
This first preheat cycle is automatic, needs about 3 minutes and you can’t access menu or any option until it’s done heating up. So, generally speaking if you’ve just turned the machine on, you will need to wait for machine to finish preheat cycle even if you only want to set the auto brew.
However, this is done only once, after the machine is turned on. If the machine was already on or in a sleep mode, there’s no preheating. Keurig won’t preheat water again and again before each cup (like Starbucks Verismo) or anything like that. Hope this helps.

Have a K40/K45 Elite Brewer. Descaled about two weeks ago. Used brewer about six times since cleaning. Today water heated as usual but would not dispense coffee. Could not hear pump. Any suggestions?
Kimberly
My screen goes crazy and won’t display correctly and u can’t read it and sometimes it turns all white. It has all these crazy lines going through it a d all the words are all over the screen. I have unplugged and restated and still can’t read the screen. How can I fix this?
Danijela
Hi Kimberly, unfortunately this is a common problem with Keurig brewers (and the reset often helps), but since you’ve already tried that and it didn’t work, it’s best to call Keurig customer service (866-901-2739). Especially if it’s still under warranty. Good luck!

Keurig 2.0
Problem: My machine will brew a GREAT cup of coffee 7 out of 10 times… the other 3 times, I get a 6 oz cup when I am trying to brew a 10 oz cup AND it is full of grounds. It does not matter what brand of single serve cups we use (green mountain, Folgers or anything) and yes I do not need to do the cheat with these k-cups… the machine is only 6 weeks old!!!
anyone got any suggestions??
Chris
Mine does the same thing!
Anthony
According to Keurig…this happens when you have a water softener… you get that… filtered water and a water softener. If you had HARD water they would probably say it was that too!!!
I can not believe that “THE WATER” causes this problem…
they are sending me a NEW machine… I will keep you informed…
Thom Kohl
Just noticed this string and want to save people from going through what I went through the past 6 months. DO NOT USE SOFTENED WATER IN THE KEURIG 2.0 SYSTEM! I had months of incomplete cups and grounds in my cup – Keurig replaced my machine and I had the same issues with the new machine. I reached out to Keurig one last time and was finally told that the sodium in softened water has a negative affect on the pumping system in the 2.0 brewing machines. They recommended I switch to spring water – first running spring water through the system a few times before trying to brew a cup of coffee. I have done this for a week now and have not had one issue! It appears that this issue was just recently discovered and they are now educated to give this advice at their customer support centers. FYI – most water filters do not remove sodium from softened water.
Margaret Duren
My Keurig will not brew a full cup.
It seems that the water is drawn out of the reservoir for brewing and when the brewing starts, water begins to flow back into the reservoir and then brewing stops. I am getting about half of the brew size that I should..
I have watched videos on cleaning and have done that. I have brewed a number of “water only” cups hoping that it could be a flow problem.
This was a gift from my daughter so I would like to be able to show her we are still enjoying it from last Christmas when she visits next weekend.
Please advise.
Juliah
Hello. My Keurig Brewer stopped working.
Trouble started after I came home from a 5-day trip. The water that came out smelled funny so I bought new filters and washed it. Then it stopped brewing, and started giving the brewing noise with only giving up a few drops.
WEIRDLY I can descale it, and the solution goes right through, BUT regular water DOESN’T!!! I have been trying the paper clip method. It goes right in and there doesn’t seem to be any blockage. What can I do? I can’t afford to buy a new one. Thanks.
Alex
My Keurig 2.0 has started displaying the stupid “Oops” screen, even when using Keurig brand cups. It’s not recognizing valid cups as valid, anyone know any reason why?

My Keurig Special Edition works just fine, however the blue light does not work. Is there a way to open and replace the bulb?
Marie Ann
My LED display on my Kerig 2.0 is back lite but blank blank…not clock but it does preheat when touched but during that preheat it is distorted and never returns clear and readable. What can be done? I have tried to unplug but that does not work.
Laura
I had almost the same problem. My whole screen looked like white noise on a tv, but it still brewed coffee. So I unplugged the machine and turned it upside down and after getting about 2 cups of really warm water out of the reservoir, then after about 15 minutes, I turned it back over. Then I opened up the part where you put the K-cup and took a napkin and started drying out the very back where the wires come into the top. I also dried other spots I saw water being very careful not to pierce my fingers with the puncture points. Afterwards I plugged it back in and after a few minutes of hearing it fill the reservoir and heating up, the computer part worked beautifully. I then realized that I had been turning it off after every brew. So now I leave it on sometimes with the top open so it can draw out. Hope this helps. Good luck!
BD
Worked like a champ, drained the remaining water and used a hair dryer on the insides (wires) and after a few minutes of drying, plugged it back in and worked perfectly! Thanks for the tip!

I have a keuric 2.0 500 model. When cleaning the brewing basket, a coil or spring came off. I have no idea where it goes. Help.
Nanci
After every cup I brew on my Keurig 2.0 it gets stuck on a screen that says “Please Wait. Hot: Do Not Lift” Help Please? I have had the Keurig less than 2 months. I have completed all the trouble shooting instructions. None for this problem found.
Emily
I’m not sure what the fix is for this, but my 2.0 machine has the exact same problem. It was purchased in February but I received it as a wedding present in May, and this problem began maybe 1 month after use. It seemed to get better after descaling, but that lasted maybe a week. Even when trying to just dispense water for tea, this problem comes up, and you never get the full amount of water indicated.
Kalina
I’m having the same exact problem with my Keurig 2 getting stuck on the “do not lift” screen after every cup, even if just dispensing water.. the only way to get rid of the message is to turn the machine off and back on again.
Does anyone have a fix for this? Thank you!
Caffeine deprivation
Having the same problem, has anyone figured out how to fix it? I have descaled, soaked and thoroughly washe’d removable parts, cleaned needles with paperclip, nothing has helped.
Danijela
Hi,
still no fix for this issue. Please call Keurig customer service at 866-901-2739 for support. Thank you.
Scott
I too am having this issue with one I bought about a month ago, rescaled, paper clip…no results. Will probably just replace it with a non-keurig brand.
Maddy
Keurig has come out with this tool that you fill with water and place where the pod goes , open and close the lid several times to clean out the needle. I received one after I called Keurig since my 2.0 was barely dripping out water for coffee.
Jacque E Wentzel
My keurig won’t turn on. It’s an older model. What can I do. Have switched to different plus in….empty n refilled reservoir. …what can I do ..to turn on pushing black button?
Jay Jimenez
Hello and how brilliant that you exist! – – My Keurig 2,0 K450 is only eight months old. It has been cleaned regularly and descaled. But today the handle got stuck in the completely open position and it just won’t come down. I’ve read a few similar complaints online yet no solutions, except for someone who wrote that a hammer works well in resolving the issue. I’d like a less violent approach. Any ideas? Thank you very much! JJ
Danijela
Thank you Jay. The machine can get stuck sometimes so I would check if that’s the reason. First, unplug the power cord. Then check if there’s anything stuck in the brew handle and if so, try removing it with a paper clip. Look at the parts that slide, on both sides. You can also try lubricating them. Try moving a k-cup holder a little bit too. Check all movable parts around the brew handle and of course, don’t use too much force. I hope it will fix things. If not, then it might be broken and it’s best to call customer service at 866-901-2739, especially since it’s still under warranty. Good luck!!
Sue Wagner
I have Keurig 2.0 550 and am having issues with the auto on/off feature. Some days it kicks on just fine and others it does not. If I test it by setting it to come on and then shut off in a minute it works every time. Like this week, it worked Monday and Tuesday, but yesterday and today it did not turn on. All settings are fine. I’ve unplugged it and I’ve reset to factory defaults and reprogrammed and it didn’t make a difference. It’s only a couple months old. Anyone have any ideas? Thank you.
Danijela
Hi Sue, the brewer will not sometimes brew if there’s not enough water in the reservoir. Also, I’m not sure but I think that if you lift the handle or move a carafe after you turn on the auto ON, the auto brew will cancel. Maybe that happened. If you’ve done everything right (and I’m sure you did), there was enough water in the reservoir and you didn’t move a carafe or lift a handle after you’ve set the auto on, then it has to do something with the machine. In that case, I would call customer service. I hope this helps. All the best.
Sue Wagner
Thank you for your reply. I just want to be sure you know what I meant. I’m not talking about an auto brew feature. I just mean where you can set the machine to power on and off automatically. Is this what you mean too?
Danijela
I’m sorry Sue, I was talking about the auto brew feature. My mistake. But it’s the same thing with the auto on/off. If you’ve done everything correctly, the enable was checked and you didn’t forget to press SAVE, and there was enough water in the reservoir, then it’s the machine.
Sue Wagner
Thanks again. I really appreciate it. I did have one thought. If I would shut the machine off manually, before the auto off kicked in. For example, I have it set to shut off at 7 PM, but I shut it off manually at 2 PM, would that mess things up and cancel the auto feature? I reset things yesterday, did not shut it off maunally, and it kicked on just fine this morning. Thank you.
Phil Rogers
Sue did this remedy work for you? Because Im having the same issue. I just talked to Keurig and they claim my brewer cannot be set for auto on/off for single k cups…only for the carafe. When I told them that can’t be true…they insisted that’s just the way it is. That if I want it to turn itself on every morning, i have to reprogram it every night. Have you had luck with your fix?
Kathie
Keurig periodically leaks water onto counter. Help!
Danijela
I’m sorry that you’re having issues with your machine Kathie. This is not a rare problem, but it’s not something that you can easily fix on your own so I recommend to call cusomer service right away. Keurig ustomer service help is available 7 days a week at 866-901-BREW (866-901-2739). All the best.
Lynne
My Keurig just keeps saying reheating and never goes to any other screen. I turned it off, unplugged it, and started over but same thing happens.
Danijela
Hi Lynne, when you turn on the machine, it needs about 3 minutes to do an initial preheating. Reheating between individual cups lasts about 10, 15 seconds. If the process takes much longer, like, nothing happens after 3 minutes, or heating between cups takes forever then it’s possible that something is wrong with the machine and I recommend to call Keurig customer service. Customer service help is available 7 days a week at 866-901-2739. All the best

I have a keruig 2.0 550. Was working fine then woke up to make coffee no lights only the I icon in the right corner tried touching it nothing mashed the brew only shows history. Unplugged pugged again nothing cleaned needle nothing . No lights no brewing will my come on. So I can’t even try the cleaning process. What can I do!???
Danijela
I’m sorry that you’re having issues with your brewer Wendy. You can also try and plug in the brewer into a different outlet and Keurig even recommends resetting your home’s circuit breaker just in case. If it still doesn’t work/turn on, then you should call Keurig customer service. Good luck!
Wendy
Thanks for the reply. So nice! Yes I did try a different plug and flipped the circuit still won’t work. Probably gonna have to call keruig. Jus really sux after having the convenience the keruig going back to a regular coffee pot! Spoiled me!!!??
Mark
I had the exact same problem, tried everything and still not working, think the touch screen went out. called Kurig and they explained that it is not a common problem and most likely a defect. The are sending a new brewer in the mail within 3-5 business days….so at least the customer care is good.
Mary Clisch
I have had this Keurig k75 platinum for 2 years. It is only brewing a short cup with the pod in, and fills a cup completely when I don’t use a pod! Spoken to Keurig and given no answer other than 20% off another machine. No thanks. I’ve descaled twice. Keurig sent me the inner piece that punctures the pod. Same problem. Any advice?
Danijela
There’s a possibility that your machine is definitely broken especially because customer service doesn’t have a solution for it.
Descaling is always a smart thing to do. I’m surprised that replacing/cleaning the exit needle didn’t work since it normally solves partial cup problem. You can try two more things, just in case. Can’t make any promises but…
One. Do you see water coming back into the reservoir while brewing? If so, you can insert the pod, press the brew button and hit the machine on it’s left top side (above that little white nozzle). You don’t have to be very gentle neither. I found a video showing this quick fix, hope it helps https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V_y0UMS0_Io .
Second: Unplug the machine, remove the reservoir, turn it upside, tap the bottom, and shake it a little bit. Then put the reservoir back (you don’t have to fill it to the MAX just in case), plug in, turn the machine on see if it will work. I think that the first fix will work, but you can try this one too.
I hope at least something will help. Good luck!!!
Amanda
Hello I have a B30 model and It keeps shutting off after 15 sec. Any Ideas on whats happening?
Danijela
Hi Amanda and sorry for the late reply. I hope your Keurig is working now, if not, I would try cleaning the exit needle. Here’s a step by step guide on how to do it properly https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4i7pMWbRvA . If that doesn’t help, then it’s best to call Keurig Customer Service. Customer service help is available 7 days a week at 866-901-2739. All the best

The touch screen won’t even come on

I received my Keurig 2.0 450 as a C’mas gift. It has done great up until a couple of days ago. This morning it would hesitate, spit out a few drops, hesitate, spit out a few drops then stop. I really can’t afford to buy one as they are rather expensive, so this has been a wonderful gift to have. I use Sam’s Choice Purified water but noticed that it does have flavor enhancing minerals in the water. Could this have stopped it up or does this particular Keurig stop working after almost five months?
Julie Holdsworth-Williams
I just had this same problem. My husband was ready to throw it in the trash. I did a little research and there are two needles, one that pumps the water into the pod and one that pushes the water out of the pod to your cup. I have found that if you run a cup on strong, sometimes the grounds will back wash and you will see grounds in your cup. If you had a cup with grounds in it then all of a sudden the next cup just trickles, you might just have some grounds stuck in the needle at the top of the lid. There are two sides to this needle and you need to make sure your cleaning both sides out with a paperclip. I cleaned the bottom one as did my husband prior to letting me try to fix. Then I cleaned the upper needle and I had grounds in the needle. I cleaned it and the machine is up and running like new again. Hope this helps.
Cheri Stewart Muchow
I just bought my 2.0 and was so excited to use it. I followed all the directions and my second cup was full of grounds. About every third cup is still full of grounds. I clean it and run a cleansing brew and 2 cups later it is full of grounds again. What’s the deal?
Dale Chalfant
I have two Model 40 Makers and they both do the same thing. I have to open and start over to get a full cup of coffee, I have cleaned it and descaled it with vinagere and that did not help. What do I do But trash them
Danijela
Hi Dale. This can also happen because exit needle is clogged with coffee grounds. Here’s a video showing how to clean it https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=C4i7pMWbRvA . And if that doesn’t work, then I suggest to call Keurig customer service at 866-901-BREW (866-901-2739).

The handle on my keuriq 2.0 wont close. I always baby it and it has worked wonderful since last Christmas! What should I do??
Cara
My elite model’ handle keeps sticking. I can get it to go down and brew a cup but I have a hard time getting the handle up.

I just purchase the Keurig 2.0 and I hate it. it is built much cheaper then the first one the water lid does not it at all, I cant use my egobrew they expect us to buy the expensive coffee I returned it and went back to the orginal Keurig that I love the new one is CRAP
John Krusr
My Kuerig 60 started acting up after I cleaned it with water and vinegar. I unplugged it hoping to reset it. Since plugging it back it Mu Kuerig had continuously brewed water like a waterfall. It’ll keep pumping the water until the reservoir is emptying. Please help. I’ve tried burping, but that does not seem to help.
Danijela
Hi John, as far as I know, this used to be a no fix problem. I think it’s best to call Keurig customer service and see if they have some new instructions or can replace your machine, especially because you’ve already try unplugging it. It sounds like it’s broken and I would give them a call at 1.866.901.BREW (2739). Good luck!
John Kruse
I decided to turn the machine upside down in my dish tray with the brew basket open. I leaned it on it’s side making sure not to crush the pull down handle. I left it over night. Today I plugged it in while on the phone with the Kuerig Rep. And surprisingly I’m back in business. I believe water got on to the sensor. I had opened the brew basket while de scaling the machine, because I realized a used K Cup was in the machine. Hope this helps future users of your sight.
Danijela
PS. You can try one more thing, but I’m not sure it will help. Unplug the machine, remove the reservoir, turn it upside, tap the bottom, and shake it a little bit. Then put the reservoir back (you don’t have to fill it to the MAX just in case), plug in, turn the machine on see if it will work. Or you can call customer service first, just in case. All the best!
Andrea
My mini keurig doesn’t drain the water . Some drops of water come out and the rest of the water stays in the coffee maker. Is it broken?
Danijela
Hi Andrea, I’m sorry you’re having issues with your machine. I would definitively try cleaning/descaling the brewer since it often helps. Here’s a great tutorial on how to do it http://smallhomebigstart.com/2014/03/how-to-clean-a-keurig-mini-and-other-instant-coffee-makers.html . If this doesn’t work, then you should definitively call customer service. Keurig Customer service help is available 7 days a week at 866-901-BREW (866-901-2739).
One more thing: I’m not sure if you know but Keurig has recalled some of their Mini Plus Brewing Systems in the United States and Canada in December 2014. This recall involves Keurig MINI Plus Brewing System with model number K10 or B31. Reason, water can overheat during brewing, spray out and burn consumers. Recalled brewers have an identification number starting with 31 and were manufactured from December 2009 to July 2014.
Please check the sticker underneath your machine to find your specific ID number, because Keurig offers free repair and you can contact them about steps to avoid a burn injury. For more details about Keurig Mini recall please visit US Consumer Product Safety Commission http://www.cpsc.gov/en/Recalls/2015/Keurig-Recalls-MINI-Plus-Brewing-Systems/ . Thanks.

Hello we received a Mini Keurig as a gift for Christmas It worked fine for 3 weeks. Now it just lets the water in to heat up. It does not brew the coffee. Appreciate your help on this matter. Thank you
Russell Slevin
Water runs back into holding tank. Only get half cups unless unless I put finger over tube draining back into reservoir . Any fixes ?
Danijela
Hi Russell, and sorry for waiting. I’ve found some useful things here http://www.fixya.com/support/t4007130-keurig_b60_spitting_water_into_reservoir . It seems that air compressor or some pump can help. You can try if you like. Of course, you can also contact Keurig customer service for instructions at 1.866.901.2739. , maybe they can help too. Good luck!
ps. Happy New Year!
Sammie Turner
Vue was working fine. Cleaned system with water. Used it two or three times, worked fine. Later noticed that the GFCI was tripped. Each time I plug it into outlet, it trips the GFIC

My new Keurig 2.0 300 made 2 cups of coffee and now when I try to make another cup I can not seem to get it to work… What am I doing wrong
Alexis
My new keurig elite won’t turn on :( first cup was fine and then went to brew another an hour later and it won’t turn back on. Checked the outlets and the the water reservoir, no problems there.
Debby Smith-McGinnis
I have the special edition model and when it keeps shutting itself off it is a prime problem. The machine loses prime. My machine does this sometimes after I fill the tank. Take the tank off the machine and suck air thru the clear tube on the side of the machine replace the tank and presto works every time.
Hilda Langegger
I tried it and it worked!!!! Thank you
thank you Debby…. I tried everything and was on the computer the whole afternoon… I read your post and could not believe that it worked. I’m so pleased and thankful to you…Once again Thank you :) :)
kevin
i have a Keurig that has the option of small, medium, and large cup to select from not sure of model number. have had it over a year, but recently it has started acting strange.
the small and large cup lights will flash and the screen will go through the set up automatically, and just continues to loop.
I have unplugged thinking it just needs to clear the computer.
the only way i have been able to get it to brew is to time it just right after it hits the last step and cycles again.
any idea of how to get the set up to stop which i dont use any way, i just got it for the cup options.
Danijela
Hi Kevin, I guess it’s the Special edition model but unfortunately I can’t help you very much. It’s definitively has to do something with the computer so it’s best to call Keurig customer service at 866-901-BREW (2739) and get instructions from them. I don’t think this is something that simple descaling or reset can solve. Good luck.
Mike
This is without a doubt the worst coffee maker I have ever owned. I paid approximately $100 a year ago. We have City water which we have run through a softener. After a month the descale message came on, at which time we purchased the recommended solution and followed the instructions. It worked for about 1 month. The unit began to stop mid brew cycle. checked the auto off/on setting and found it to be off. The unit began to discharge at a trickle. Checked the needle that punctures the K-cup, it was clean. The descale message appeared again, once again the solution was purchased and the unit was cleaned and descaled per Keurig’s instructions. After the third descaling and cleaning, we started using bottled water, to no avail. after a fourth descaling and cleaning, distilled water was used. After 2 weeks the descale message light came on. Luckily, we kept our Bun coffee maker in the garage to sell at a garage sale. The Keurig and the Bun coffee maker have since changed positions. After I type this I will be ordering a Bun single cup coffee maker that will accept all of the K-cups we have. I am hoping that I can unload the Keurig at our garage sale and get a few bucks back from a bad investment.
Mary
I have a Keurig Elite and when I turn the power button on it immediately starts dispensing water will not stop until I shut the power button off. I checked to make sure the spring was not stuck on the bottom of the water reservoir. Do you have any idea what may be causing this?
Danijela
Hi Mary, as far as I know, this used to be a no fix problem. I think it’s best to call Keurig customer service and see if they have some new instructions or can replace your machine. You can try this though: turn of the machine, unplug it, remove the reservoir, wait for few minutes, then put it back on and plug in the machine again. You can even shake it just slightly. So, put the reservoir back, plug in, turn the machine on, lift and close the handle and see if it will work. if not, then it’s definitively broken and I would give them a call at 1.866.901.BREW (2739)
Stephen Klinger
Please stop using the word definitively when what you mean is definitely. You can look up the difference. As an English major and a longtime copy editor, this drives me crazy.
Danijela
Thanks Stephen, I appreciate your suggestion.
Paul budrow
My kuerig 2.0 brewer now goes to white screen. After plugging and unplugging it sometimes I can get the screen back. But, it seems to be getting worse. I had to unplug it for an half hour this morning to get it back What can I do?
Tiffany
We had the exact same problem so mu husband unplugged the machine, removed the water tank, and repeatedly pushed the button for about a minute in attempt to reset/remove any stored energy from the machine. After that it worked perfectly. We think when we came home the night before, the power had gone out for just a few minutes in a storm while we were gone. We have always babied our Keurig 2.0 and only use distilled bottled water in it. It costs 88 cents per gallon versus buying a new $120 machine, so to us it is absolutely worth it. It seems like this is not a common problem for Keurigs, but I hope it is as easy of a fix for others as it was for us!
LINDA
I HAVE A MINI KEURIG. I PUT MY WATER IN. LIFT THE HANDLE FOR THE WATER TO GO THROUGH. TURNED ON MY POWER BUTTON FOR THE WATER TO WARM PUT IN MY K-CUP PULL THE HANDLE DOWN AND MY BREW BUTTON DOES NOTHING. IT DOESN’T COME ON BLUE OR ANYTHING. I LIFT MY HANDLE UP AGAIN AND TRIED IT AGAIN AND NOTHING. IS THERE SOMETHING I CAN DO TO GET IT TO COME ON OR CAN I SAY THAT MY KEURIG IS DEAD.
Danijela
Hi Linda,
if there’s no light, make sure that machine hasn’t turned off for some reason (button below the brew icon). If the power is on, then try this.
Unplug the machine and empty out the water reservoir. Wait for 1 minute and plug it in again. Turn the machine on (power button below the brewer icon) and wait for like 30 seconds. Then, repeat the process: add water, lift the handle – the machine should show blue light on the brewer icon, close the handle (with or without a k-cup) and press top brew button (it should flash blue). Keurig Mini needs some time to warm up the water and start brewing, approximately 2 min (the top button will flash red), so just be patient.
If the machine is plugged in, and the power is on but nothing is happening (no lights, sounds or anything, then something is wrong with the machine). In that case I recommend to contact Keurig customer service at 1.866.901.BREW (2739). Let me know if you need anything else.
Marcie
Hi, I hope someone can help. My Keurig is not new and suddenly the top won’t open so I can put in a new pod. It’s jammed or something. The handle only goes up halfway so I can see the pod but it won’t open all the way. It turns on, it brews the old pod… Yuck… But it won’t open. Help please. I’ve looked everywhere for a solution.
Danijela
You’re probably right, something is stuck. you can try opening it on your own, but you need to be careful. first, unplug the power cord. then, check to see if there’s something stuck in the brew handle and try removing it with a paper clip or toothpick. try moving the k-cup if it’s inserted incorrectly, try open it while pushing up on the bottom of the k-cup holder from underneath, look at the parts that slide, on both sides. you can also try lubricating them. don’t use too much force. if you manage to open the handle, remove the k-cup and check to see if everything is ok: the k-cup holder, needles and all of the brew handle parts. if this doesn’t work or it’s easier for you, you can contact their customer service at 866-901-2739 for help . Good luck Marcie.
Daniel
These are all good tips. Super automatic machines have a lot of parts and they do require a bit more care to work properly– “Set it and forget it” does not mean “Set it, forget it and never clean it.” I think 90% of Keurig problems could probably be delayed if not avoided entirely to proper cleaning and care. Calcification is one of the biggest culprits I’ve seen.
Danijela
Thanks Daniel. I am glad you agree. Oh, I have to check out your posts, sounds interesting. :) Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!
